B12 Legacy Schools Sharing Revenue
Interesting article by Dodd on how the revenue split will be once the new schools join later this year. I must have completely missed this before, but I didn't realize the legacy schools were agreeing to give up current revenue for the new schools.

For the record, I personally do not have an issue with that and think it's the right move. I'm sure some there are some fans of the legacy schools who will disagree and that's fine. But looking at this from a non money angle, this helps to build a sense of unity for the conference and ensures the new schools are taken care of until the new media deal kicks in. Plus it sounds like the legacy schools would be made whole if OUT does leave early.

It's weird to see the B12 schools voting to do what is in the best interest of the conference as a whole. I'm liking this new league now that OUT is leaving. 03-thumbsup

RE: B12 Legacy Schools Sharing Revenue
They made the smart business decision. They basically take a hit for 2 years but recover their money starting year 3. The new schools are getting enough to make them competitive right off, and full money in year 3. The legacy schools should/could recover some of their shortfall if Tex/Ok leave early. The Exit fees alone without buyout of GOR should actually cover what they lost.

If the schools themselves are OK with it, I see no reason to object. None of that money will ever make it into my wallet, and it makes sense for all teams in our "new" league to start out on relatively equal footing.

agree, with the buyouts by TEX/OK legacy schools most likely don't lose out much of anything. 70mil x 2=140mil divided by 8= 17 mil each. 03-cloud9

Everyone comes out well on the deal.
