The Athletic: MAC football rankings (after 6 weeks)
https://theathletic.com/2881106/2021/10/...gan-state/
Quote:#51 WMU (previous ranking: 29)
#75 NIU (previous ranking: 74)
#80 EMU (previous ranking: 88)
#86 Toledo (previous ranking: 78)
#87 BSU (previous ranking: 98)
#88 KSU (previous ranking: 101)
#89 Buffalo (previous ranking: 86)
#108 Miami (previous ranking: 107)
#110 CMU (previous ranking: 109)
#118 Ohio (previous ranking: 124)
#119 Akron (previous ranking: 125)
#125 BGSU (previous ranking: 106)
Quote:Western Michigan drops out of the top 50 after a 45-20 loss to Ball State. I thought the Broncos could be a breakout team from the MAC, but that doesn’t appear to be the case...A team to watch in the MAC could be Northern Illinois, which is now 2-0 in conference play after close wins against Eastern Michigan and Toledo.

RE: The Athletic: MAC football rankings (after 6 weeks)
Some of these rankings make no sense and have nothing to do with body of work and more to do with the name of the school or what they did last season.
Iowa State #46 with wins are over FCS team by 6 points, winless UNLV, and 1-4 Kansas.
Memphis at #65 with wins are over FCS team, 1-5 Arkansas State, and Mississippi St but losses to bad teams like Tulsa and Temple.
UAB #61 with wins over FCS team, 1-4 North Texas, 1-5 Tulane, and 3-3 FAU. Really?

I agree UAB is overrated, but Liberty and Georgia are kind of understandable losses.

Rankings for me are about who you have beat rather than who you have played. You can have a strong schedule but if you lose to good teams it doesn't make you a good team. None of the above 3 teams have beaten anyone good enough for me to say they should be ranked in the top half of FBS.
