Unfortunately, the AAC's rankings have dropped more than any other conference compared to 2020.

At this point in 2020, the AAC was ranked close behind the PAC 12, and well ahead of the MWC. Currently, the AAC is ranked well behind the PAC 12 and just slightly ahead of the MWC.

These kinds of figures must be very jarring to the AAC presidents, commissioner, and to ESPN, particularly when they note that only one of the 8 "remainers" currently has a team in the top 50 of the Massey composite.

Looking these rankings over, it's no wonder that there have been two reports since October 1st suggesting that the AAC may be considering the addition of as many as 6 or 8 schools to the conference in the next few years.

Not that it makes a difference but under your calculations USF would be +10 not negative

This is the correct answer, it would also be better if Houston met SMU in the championship, preserving a 1 loss Cincy. Getting and SMU champion, a one loss possibly NY6 at large Cincy, and a three loss Houston who might be able to maintain a ranking. This scenario results in the best outcome for the AAC. It means we have two NY6 access teams left with SMU and Memphis and Navy (championship game loss), Temple (won a championship), USF (they beat UCF a few years ago and they are the team) have proven to be capable of competing for them.

While it seems unlikely, the door has cracked already for the AAC to be in the conversation with the PAC, Big 12, and ACC as equals this season. The PAC and ACC in partucular seem to be in touching distance and OU showed the Big Xii maybe vulnerable.

if Houston plays (most likely) Cinci in the championship i would want Houston to win. Because that would mean we ran the table or had only one loss and the fight will be for the NY6 access bowl. and if it came down to that i would want the boys fighting down in the gridiron to be rewarded because that would mean they pulled their heads out of their arse and they deserve the big stage especially if they were to upset Cinci.
