It's important to note that Landon does like not the AAC and is in fact a big proponent of Marshall joining the SBC. I only say that to say, the fact he said this means he has reliable sources who told him this information. I'm sure it killed him to even type those words.

Who knows what will happen, but I'm hoping the AAC makes their moves relatively soon so everyone can move on.

Only way we should ever go to the AAC is if App St goes and we at least have them and ECU.

And UAB but I think if we move at all it should be to the SBC. The AAC is not stable especially if Memphis packs their bags.

Define "stable".

I may have a different opinion on whether "stability" in a G5 conference is a good thing.

Agreed. SBC is stable right now because the AAC doesn't want their schools for obvious reasons.

It would cost us a lot of money to not go as well. If we get the invite then we have to make the jump. Will Memphis and some others most likely leave in the future? Yeah, but the AAC left overs would still be able to invite teams from CUSA and SBC.

Chuck Landon; the infamous Done Deal man. I heard he went into the hospital for a triple bypass and the doctors ending up doing five arteries. Best wishes for a full recovery.

No matter how few are left in CUSA or how spread out we are, the conference will morph and continue. The exit fees, the cfp money, the auto bids all will remain. It may not be pretty for a while but it will likely be our conference home for years to come. We will still have fb ccg and basketball tournaments, etc. Once the dust clears it will be ok.

This is all true, but I think most of us have C-USA fatigue. We need something to change. If it isn't a change in conference, then maybe it can at least be a change in conference leadership. Judy needs to go.

Actually, it does matter. If CUSA loses 7 members and all-sports invites to New Mexico State, James Madison, Liberty, and UMass all fail for whatever reason, the league enters the 2-year grace period before total dissolution sends the remaining 7 as Division 1-A Independents.

It would be a lot easier to fire Judy and try to keep our teams, or even be proactive. Why cant the powers that be see her total failure?

I feel less confident about UAB getting in now than I did 2 weeks ago.

UAB can’t win big games, boring to watch, and attendance numbers are inconsistent. You’ll see as we likely have less than 25k vs FAU

Marshalls in transition year.

Is Chuck Landon disliked up there in Huntington?

UAB got more press from him than we did from the Birmingham news, during 2015 & 2016

There is some truth to this.

This write-up was from a month ago, and honestly, there's no difference now then what went down 8 years ago. The AAC is going to lose three members to the Big XII. Okay. So? How is karma striking the AAC any differently now than 8 years ago when it was the Big East and the league lost Louisville, Pittsburgh, and Syracuse to the ACC and Rutgers to the Big 10? Answer? It's not.

The AAC/Big East backfilled with the best from Conference USA then, and they'll do it again now. If karma's a b**** for the AAC, then it's REALLY gonna' be a b**** for Conference USA. Chuck Landon better hope to hell Marshall isn't left behind again.

I feel the same way. Though if some miracle happened and they actually invited Marshall, ODU and Charlotte too (practically no chance of all that happening), it would be a really fun and relatively compact league that could turn into something cool in the east. 6 teams between Charlotte and Philly isnt bad at all.

Landon is an opinion columnist who doesn’t speak for Marshall. Also, things are different. As friendly as I can put it, the AAC is, at best, on plan B or C. Marshall is a good compromise add. Decent geography. Good viewership. Enough success on the field and court to not tank league quality. Not a total joke academically. History with most members.

1) Either he was drunk and posting, then took it off.
2) Didn't happen.

Lack of facilities, markets, overall sports quality, budgets, and academics.

I don't have facebook. Just sharing what was shared on one of our message boards. Multiple posters have read it themselves and one of them copied and pasted the conversation.

He didn't just make a post about it. There were comments back and forth. Someone asked a question and that's how the conversation started (from what I have gathered).
