Fun fact, technically Southern Miss has the closest campus to the ocean in the conference. Our Gulf Park Campus (full blown campus, full course load, not a “system school”, same degree and everything) is on the Mississippi Sound.

Additionally, we have courses taught at the Gulf Coast Research Lab, and NASA’s Stennis Space Center (where they test a majority of the boosters for rockets)

Friend's daughter back home wants to be a Marine Biologist. Had her heart set on LSU. Went to LSU toured it, toured the department, then went to USM. Said to her the GP campus was closer and was more hands on.

Plus the Buffets donate to that department for research and all.

One of many FAU research sites is right on the ocean beach, actually (FAU Dania Beach Research Center)

I'm no oceanographer, but I'm fairly certain that the Gulf of Mexico is a gulf. 03-nerner

That sounds like our GCRL. But, the Gulf Park Campus is a full blown campus offering most all (and some different) degrees with its own dedicated or shared faculty and staff.

I went through the construction management program. Several guys would drive from the coast to Hattiesburg to take classes. They would take all they could there then drive up for the ones they couldn't take. I've learned in the last few years its now the same offerings. It's a good idea. Along the coast there's always something going on and it would allow for the guys there to hold a job and go to class easier.

There still is a little bit of that, but not as much now that you have WebEx and other methods of streaming in person classes virtually to the coast. And it happens vice versa sometimes, especially for the 'Blue Economy' degrees.

A UNA fan said the following "Rumor has it that EKU and UNA were both invited to C-USA at the same time as Liberty and JSU. It seems both declined the invite because they are looking at the Sun Belt in a couple of years." Do you all think that this is true?

Why wait to go FBS unless they’re both not ready?

But wrong thread for this.

But you claim to be a Kennesaw State fan.. So it wasn't an interesting fact about your school, it was a rumor. Read the room dude.

Interesting things your school is known for
Here’s an interesting fact about Kennesaw.

Their mascot is The Owls.

Hoo ever heard of such a thing?

Don’t do it CUSA. The last thing you need is another round of Owls.

True

Why didn't you say that Kennesaw State is the second biggest university in the state of Georgia?? That's pretty interesting, IMO!!! And I am not even a Kennesaw fan.

Just for the new C-USA schools, I will give an idea of how this thread is supposed to work. An interesting thing about Troy University is that it has a Confucius Institute on campus.
