This person's twitter handle is "poop" and has 0 followers.....seems legit to me.

Exact thought I had. To be fair there's another tweet. Doesn't seem very credible either.

https://twitter.com/mburtappstate/status...97764?s=19

I did a bit more digging and it looks like the rumor started in SB board. Go figure. UTSA turns down AAC and MW to join SB.

https://csnbbs.com/thread-930865-page-3.html

Yeah, I don't click on direct links to the Slum Belch forum because almost anything related to CUSA schools is just garbage. There's not a soul over there that knows squat about what is happening with this conference.

That's probably the first time I've gone to their board. Only cuz I was on the trail to find the source. I thought AAC fans were delusional, boy was I in for a surprise.
After digging myself it’s on this forum, check out the Southern Miss 5 percent wanna be in CUSA thread. Some additional info there. According to that individual (the gold standard) a CUSA coach has stated this. Take it for what it’s worth.

I love the comments about "We are not kicking out ULM or Texas State" blah, blah, blah as if the Slum Belch cared about their members. See New Mexico State and Idaho for an example of the Slum Belch's brand of compassion. There isn't a member outside of struggling ULM that doesn't have a knife ready to stab their conference mates in the back when it comes to conference realignment.

Yeah, but when consider that it was a Southern Miss fan claiming a CUSA head coach had the inside info and then a Belch fan from Texas State chimes in, that pretty much ended it right there.

It's this kind of investigation that solved the Kennedy assassination.

That guy is the most connected person on any sports messageboard...if you believe him.

So not only is he friends with a well known SBC west coach (his words) but now he's getting information from a CUSA coach.

I wonder if his two head coaching friends told him...

if S. Miss cant win in CUSA and they cant win vs the bottom of the SBC west. Maybe their best bet is the SWC. Maybe that should have been on the twitter poll. S. Miss has no problem beating SWC schools and that game is usually their highest box score "attendance" game of the season.

Regarding UTSA:

1. No way 7.5 million stops the Roadrunners from going where they choose if the right invitation is extended.
2. In the long run they would probably be a better fit in MWC.
3. Never underestimate what a larger University with power can do to screw the little brother. Just like Tennessee killing MT's chance to get a Law School; the University of Texas at Austin has no love for UTSA

Let the American dissolve! Seriously though, cannot see anyone taking UTSA with that middle school gym unless they have plans in place for a legit basketball arena....

We have delusion to spare over there, and sometimes Im at the head of it. But I don’t think I’ve seen anybody say that UTSA would turn down the aac for the sbc, although I could have missed it. Only, if they were available for whatever reason, we’d like to make them a target for a number of reasons.

Try telling UAB fans about how that can happen, but be ready to get your head snapped off when you do.

Son, son. Don’t bother trying to win an argument with old A41 by stating facts. His irrational hatred of all things SBC won’t allow it. I guess that what he means when he says he has no alliance lol.

RE: UTSA turn down AAC?
If the AAC is asking schools to bump their annual budget into the 40 millions, that could rule out a lot of the candidates that we like to talk about. That isn't something a school can just do easily and quickly. The increase in media deal is not enough for most schools to get to say, a 45mil budget if that's what Aresco wants.

This would seemingly eliminate everyone but ODU, Charlotte, UAB, and North Texas from CUSA unless a school can manage a budget increase.

RE: UTSA turn down AAC?
Below are the top listed budgets but they are almost meaningless because there's no uniform way of listing them. Plus a lot of those dollars are going to higher scholarship cost. If one school has a budget of 40m and another 35m and the 40m is spending 6m extra on scholarship cost. Which has the healthier budget?

ODU 46M

UNCC 40M

UNT 40M

FIU 37M

UAB 36K

FAU 36M

Middle 35m

UTSA 33M

Rumor is that Tech has a path to the 40 million dollar budget but it is going to mean passing the dreaded student athletic fee. Who knows if there is any truth to it.
