I've wanted Cig to run the hurry up for three years. Never in my wildest imagination would I have imagined he run it with the lead and only four minutes on the clock. Has to be the worst clock management I've ever seen. BDK, please explain that one to me?
We should of had a big lead at halftime, even with the TO. We dominated, but the grind it out left UNH close and in the game.
Cig is a good coach, but definitely not a great one.....
What are you talking about? JMU's next to last possession (the one before the game ending INT) started with 5:15 on the clock. Got 3 straight completions (-1, +1, +15), 1st down.
CJ rushed for 4 yds, Palmer for 2 yds, followed by UNH timeout. Then CJ incomplete pass on 3rd down, punt.
UNH got the ball back with 3:45. Yeah JMU only burned 1 1/2 min in 6 offensive plays, but UNH used a timeout, you had an incomplete pass, and a clock stop to move the chains on 1st down. So on what plays was there a hurry up?
JMU could have just run the ball 3 straight times, likely not gotten a 1st down (were only avg 3.5 per carry and UNH was probably looking run 1st), used as much clock as possible, and with UNH using a timeout, would still only have only burned about 1 1/2 min. The only questionable decision I saw was a pass on 3rd and 4. Incomplete, clock stopped, punt. If had run the ball and gotten stuffed, could have burned off around 35 more seconds.
I think that Dukester is referring to the play after Johnson's run, they went straight to the line and ran Palmer up the middle.
Don't think it's unreasonable to question that. Why not huddle up in that situation and milk the clock? If the rationale is to be aggressive, get another 1st down and ice the game, why such a conservative call?

Yeah, sounds like they could have milked another 30 seconds or so in that situation, or done a less conservative call (who makes the play call in that situation, Shanahan or CC?). I can't remember- was UNH trying to substitute there? Maybe CJ had instructions to go slow to burn clock unless UNH tries to substitute to try to catch them off guard.

They’re usually so slow and deliberate with calling the plays I’m guessing he had the green light to hurry up and throw off the Ds timing in such a situation.

Couple day old news:
Quote:CAA Football Co-Defensive Player of the Week
Diamonte Tucker-Dorsey, Jr., LB, James Madison (Norfolk, Va./Lake Taylor)
Tucker-Dorsey intercepted a pass with 1:45 remaining to seal James Madison’s 23-21 victory at New Hampshire. The junior linebacker’s first career pickoff came after UNH had driven into JMU territory. Tucker-Dorsey also had five tackles and 0.5 TFL as the Dukes limited the Wildcats to 162 total yards and just seven offensive points.
