He's a load, he's got size and athleticism. You're right though, it's big time OSU country up here, but the tide is slowly turning some with more and more UC grads flying their flag. That being said, I would be surprised if he chooses UC. St. Mary's is a big time OSU town, and the perception of playing for the mighty Buckeyes with the hometown folks might be too much to overcome. I'm definitely not holding my breath on this one.
He released his top 5 yesterday and we aren't in it.

UD always has a big white guy in the paint.
And it was just 2 years ago that they were a top ranked team and had the national player of the year in Obi Toppin.

They have certainly been better than UC for the last decade. An elite 8 and a player of the year in Obi Toppin. Of course UC fans **** on him in the "secret scrimmage" that year. He was the real deal but UC fans think Dayton is beneath them. They have better fan support than UC in basketball.

No way that UD has been better than UC for the last decade.
Obi's last year (he only played 2 years for UD) they were better.
That was Brannen's first year.
They were probably better than UC last year because the team was a mess.
Our last matchup was in 2010 and UC won 68-34.
That was a fairly normal score between Cincy and UD over the last 30 years.
Obi was the real deal, but > 90% of the time Dayton is not at UC's level.

They have an elite 8 during that run as well (under Archie Miller). UC couldn't even make it out of the first weekend.

RE: BB Class of 2023
Last 10 Seasons According to kenpom:
2021 Dayton 87 UC 116
2020 Dayton 4 UC 44
2019 Dayton 62 UC 29
2018 Dayton 172 UC 4
2017 Dayton 39 UC 23
2016 Dayton 59 UC 32
2015 Dayton 42 UC 43
2014 Dayton 42 UC 27
2013 Dayton 62 UC 40
2012 Dayton 69 UC 31
Dayton was better the last 2 seasons, included an incredible season tragically cut short for them by COVID in 2020.
The Bearcats were better 7 of the previous 8 season, and the two teams were essentially even in 2015.
Kenpom has spoken...
Dayton made 4 NCAA tournaments in that span and it should be noted made the elite eight in 2014. UC made 8 tournaments only missing last year. Dayton certainly would have made the tournament in 2020 (as possibly a 1 seed) and UC likely would have made the tournament as well.

My point was UC made zero runs. Dayton did. I have watched UC underperform in the tourney year after year. Dayton had a fantastic run in 2014, which was fun to watch. Had covid not hit that team was primed to make a final 4. I wish UC would do something, but the scoring issues seems to always show up come March and cause an early flame out.

Bolded, I agree really. Statistically I think UC is stronger than UD most years but people remember tourney results. This coming March will mark 30 years since our last Final Four--almost unbelievable to type that. A Sweet Sixteen in the next two years would really energize us and give fans a reason to believe the program can return to the spotlight. I really hope Wes can do that because he's done a phenomenal job of engaging fans and bringing a newfound optimism to our program. Now, let the coaching begin.

Based upon your reasoning you cannot count last year as a guaranteed anything for UD.
Cincy has had several great years where we were primed for a deep run that didn't happen.
And don't forget our 2012 sweet 16 by a team that wasn't "primed" to make a run.
All we can say is that UD made one elite 8 run in the last decade in addition to a total of 4 tourney appearances.
I am not discounting the elite 8.
And I am not discounting how good UD was last year.
UD's "what if" last year due to COVID is no different than UC's "what if" in 2000 with Kenyon.
I wish both had a chance to happen, but neither did.

Wow, I'm guessing Chad Dollar had built a relationship with Chol while on staff at Georgia. Knowing nothing more, I like our chances and that will be a very tall frontcourt if this plays out.
Do you think the first words out of the mouths of all our coaches these days are, "You'll be playing in the Big 12, the nation's best basketball conference..."?
