My biggest concern with coach satt was if he'd overlook local/ohio recruiting and try to do it all with southern recruits. His staff personnel almost all having spent time at osu, and his OC pick have eased this concern and messages like this are very encouraging.

It's good to get a little face time everywhere, but I agree that our recruiting crew should be able to identify the Ohio schools that could use some extra TLC.

This is in sharp contrast with a former head coach who never saw fit to visit some of this area's best high school football programs himself during his tenure a few years ago. While this isn't "targeted" recruiting, I think it's great to plant the flag for UC at all these schools and show future hometown heroes that the Bearcats are invested locally and regionally.

We have to try and defend some territory against the prior coach who headed north. We know he will continue to recruit the greater Cincinnati area and Ohio but we need to let Ohio kids know we're still here and kicking and building on an upward trajectory in the B12. We will continue to be a viable option for kids who want to remain in their home city and/or state for their college football playing career. I can't say I'm surprised from the tweet...I would be more surprised [and pissed] if this wasn't in CSS's recruitment plans...

Old coach had a long history in this region and his name will always carry value. But when we're well run we've built a brand on local kids like Vann, Corleone, Whyle, Pace bros. who value playing for the team they grew up rooting for in front of their families. No matter how much they respect the old guy it's a very different value proposition to going to a middle tier B10 school 10 hours away. The guys that are going to Madison are probably going to be guys who want to go away to school and we're probably not going to be in a lot of final 2s with Wisc. If we prioritize local relationships and put on a good on field product we're going to continue to win with key local guys.

Senator Tee Time would have needed a AAA Trip Tic and GPS to find the local schools.

Hope they don't forget to visit Highlands and CovCath and some other NKY schools. And plant the flag in SE Indiana a bit too.

Sure, but most of the dads at those two NKY school view Clifton in a similar light as Jim Huber. In fairness, the same applies at the two Lakota's as well.

Hoping the new Colerain coach can help stop the bleeding of talent leaving Cheviot Road because that is one of the few schools in town where we have sort of a pipeline established.

That talent now goes to Lakota West and Princeton. That's where they need to establish a pipeline. Seems like those pipelines are to OSU right now.

With MOELLER coach resigning- who will take over. Was nice when we had a former bearcat in there for a couple of years.

Anyone know why he resigned? Looking from a distance it seems like they haven’t had anybody stay there long term for a while.

Mark Elder was on Butch Jones’ staff at UC for three seasons. The issue hasn’t been the coach, the better players there want to play for the B10/SEC schools (and Notre Dame).

Thanks! I did not know. Any idea who will replace him.

Money. Hes leaving under great terms, even helping with the coaching search and transition, but the corporate world pays far more than a catholic school can.

Yes they have gone through a few coaches in recent years. This one went to the corporate world, 1 got hired away by the Bengals, and 1 was just a terrible hire that didnt earn a second season. Throughout it all they've continued to produce D1 talent so hopefully coach Satt builds inroads with the next staff.

Rodenberg was there from 2008-2017. That's an eternity for such a low-paid, high stress position.

He probably would have stayed longer, but his last 3 years at Moeller were not great (5-5, 4-6, 4-7-1) and I got the impression he was forced out. He left for an Indianapolis school for a couple years, and then when he got hired at Indian Hill he told the reporter that part of his motivation was coming back to the Cincinnati area.

Fun fact: Rodenberg has won state titles in three different states. How many coaches can say that?

Will Kocher and Michael Mussarri, the record setting pasand catch combo from Kings both just committed as PWOs. So there's that at least.
