Exclamation Current and Future TV deal $$$ for AAC, MWC & MAC
I turned up a couple of good TV deal $$$ references recently. The total money received for each conference from the CFP and TV deal numbers.

CFP numbers:
https://businessofcollegesports.com/fina...2014-2020/

TV deal numbers:
https://csnbbs.com/thread-927417.html

Here is what the AAC, MWC & MAC would be making in total for 2021 using the TV deal data and the one year average of CFP earnings.

AAC (2021)
Conference TV $63 mil
CFP TV dollars $23.06 mil
Total TV dollars $86.06 mil
TV per school (11) $7.82 mil

MWC (2021)
Conference TV $42 mil
CFP TV dollars $19.43 mil
Total TV dollars $61.43 mil
TV per school (12) $5.12 mil

MAC (2021)
Conference TV $24 mil
CFP TV dollars $16.59 mil
Total TV dollars $40.59 mil
TV per school (12) $3.38 mil

Fast forward to 2025 and the 12 team playoff is worth 3x money.

AAC (2025)
Conference TV $76 mil
CFP TV dollars $69.18 mil
Total TV dollars $145.18 mil
TV per school (11) $13.2 mil

MWC (2025)
Conference TV $52 mil
CFP TV dollars $58.29 mil
Total TV dollars $110.29 mil
TV per school (12) $9.19 mil

MAC (2021)
Conference TV $30 mil
CFP TV dollars $49.77 mil
Total TV dollars $79.77 mil
TV per school (12) $6.65 mil

As you can see here the gap between the AAC and MWC stretches out if the AAC can maintain its performance edge as the P6 conference.

Either way the G5 conferences are looking at a big increase in total TV money within a few short years due to the 12 team playoff.

Where did you get the bolded information above? If the 3x multiplier is true, would it be 3x across the board for all conferences or is it variable?

Estimating 3x across all conferences.

However they may do the payouts differently next time. While the MAC might see 3x from a base payment the AAC might not see quite a proportional growth on what they've made in the past with the CFP.

Sorry to complicate the math but you need to divide the Conference TV amount by 11 instead of 12. Hawaii only gets a nominal share of the CBS/Fox money because it has its own PPV deal with Spectrum that pays it $3.1 million per year. The MWC adds a few hundred thousand to bring us up to 80% of whatever the other members are getting because we're a football-only member.

Hawaii does get a full share of the CFP money.

That means the MWC will be even better in the future.

Especially if they are splitting that amount 10 ways.

MWC is now the new P6. AAC's tv contract will take a hit if they grab teams that are rumored.

The MW TV contract is for 11 schools, and don't have to produce any broadcasts. Hawaii has a different contract,

Do we know what the cost to produce the broadcasts is for the AAC? With nothing on the MWC right now, and at 11 schools splitting it, that would make the 2 even closer.

Well, a couple comments on Ozanian's numbers from the tweet that started your MAC board thread.

The AAC's Form 990 for the 2019 season says $44,988,700 for TV and radio rights, not $20 million. We might have gotten a signing bonus as part of the billion dollar deal - but already paying more than listed.
That leads to the second point - the $63 million and upward numbers (which is really just him guessing like a realignment board regular at how the $83 million average annual value deal will escalate) should start in 2020 season, the first year of the new deal, not 2021. So the '21 and '25 numbers in your runs should be higher.

On the CFP numbers yes, the regular TV deal no.

However they should be subject to the same level of price improvement moving forward.

It's taking a hit anyways. I posted a link to a radio interview with Mark Zeigler on the MWC Board AAC is taking a major hit. And the MWC asked about inviting Memphis and SMU and we're told neither one would raise the next TV deal. Also, losing Air Force and CSU could actually help the MWC deal. Worth a listen. Was also reported the CSU and Air Force move isn't about money. They feel like Boise and SDSU won't be there during the next media deal.

If Memphis/SMU couldn't improve the MWC TV deal I don't see how UTSA/UNT would be able to do that.

It could be the AAC and MWC will both be sitting at 10 when the chairs stop moving.

A smaller revenue split for both conferences.

I heard Alabama wouldnt raise it either, which is why you guys arent inviting them.

To bring you guys back down to reality, teams will leave the MWC for the AAC. No teams are leaving the AAC for the MWC.
