RE: All-time winning percentages of every program ranked.
Seeing Indiana with an all-time record of 498-688-44 (a .423 winning percentage) is painful.

Of note, the top new Big 12 team is WVU at #27.
The last place team is Georgia State.
Miami O and Central Michigan have dropped quite a bit in recent years. Pretty sure last time I looked both were top 20. Now they are 28 and 30.

Yeah that'll happen when we go above .500 just three times since 2005 (one of which was last season at 2-1). We went 9-39 in my four years as a student.

I surprised South Carolina is as high as it is (84). At one point we were up to like 70th, but the last 6 years have hurt us.

It would be interesting to see this by quarter century working backwards from 2020. Anything pre-WWII can be pretty misleading.

FYI they count FCS wins for programs that have moved up, in case you hadn't figured that out. That's why UMass is #100 on there as opposed to probably last place.

Note that the top 20, other than the 4 newbies from FCS (Boise, App St., Coastal Carolina and Ga. Southern) are exactly who you would expect. The 9 kings (OSU, AL, ND, MI, OU, UT, USC, Penn St., UNL), the 3 Florida noveau rich and 4 SEC powers (TN, UGA, LSU, Auburn)
1.Ohio State(933-328-53).730

And the 20 schools that have dominated the top of the rankings since the mid-60s are those 16 + #21 Clemson, #22 Washington, #38 Colorado and #44 Oregon.

Didn't know WKU was #31 for football which is the best in CUSA (USM is 2nd at #39, then LaTech is 3rd at #45).
On a related note, WKU is 8th for men's bball in all time winning % (and 7th in number of twenty win seasons and 3rd all time for total conference championships trailing only KU and UK).

To be fair, this is Appalchian State's second time up in 1A/FBS.

I could have sworn ND and Michigan were neck and neck (+/- 5 wins) at some point in the past decade. Of course ND had to vacate 21 wins, so that explains some, but not all of the discrepancy.
Edit: it had to have been win %, I guess

App State fan here. I want to give proper context.
App State was D1 for football (pretty split between 1A and 1AA) from 1971ish to 1977. From 1978 to 1981, they were 1A. But this was in a SoCon that didn't even have a bowl tie in. Few if any P5-equivalent teams would visit SoCon teams in that era from '71 to '81.
To me, App State has been playing at its highest level of football just since 2014. Programs like Miami, Wake Forest, UNC, and South Carolina never visited, or scheduled visits, to Boone before then, even during the on-paper D1 or 1A years.
Most of the schools in App State's conference from 1971 to 1981 remain in FCS today. The exceptions are ECU (who left prior to the 1A/1AA split) and Marshall.

RE: All-time winning percentages of every program ranked.
The Ohio & Indiana indies were major programs for 30+ years (1890s-1930s). Dayton, Butler, Western Reserve, Case, Wabash, Wittenberg, Denison, Depauw, Oberlin, Kenyon, etc.
Then they all de-emphasized football & the Eastern sports writers forgot about them. They forgot that the Butler Bowl used to host 36,000 screaming fans. Or that Western Reserve won the 1941 Sun Bowl (over Arizona State). Or that the Case vs Western Reserve Thanksgiving Day game would sell out the Cleveland Indians' 21,000 seat stadium so regularly that they moved it to the 78,000 seat Cleveland Municipal Stadium. Or that the mighty Wabash Little Giants' upper-class arrogance was so famous that Purdue adopted a nickname to distinguish themselves apart (Boilermakers). Or dozens of other stories that prove that these were major football schools every bit the equal of the Southern Conference and the PAC.
Too bad none of the wins/losses against them count for anything any more.
