Start the FAU to AAC chants as a replacement.

What game were you watching? USF was kicking their ass in the second half. It ended up a one score game. You're a Rutgers fan. What are you even doing here?

Without a few friendly BYU calls (like a punch that is thrown in front of the refs and the flag picked up) and USF would have won that game.

Based off our performer, I now believe we will win 5-6 games this season.

FWIW, it was an AAC crew; visiting team brings their refs.

Every other play they were dragging a BYU player off the field. USF may have lost the game, but they beat the **** out of those pretty boys.

He obviously didn't think we would get the ball back w/o any time outs and the way our defense was playing and only way we would get the ball back. He was correct as BYU killed the clock for what seemed like the fastest 5 minutes ever.

You are correct that the last 5 minutes went by fast, but I believe to have tried to put them on the 25 might have signaled confidence to the defense and maybe get the stop USF needed. As pointed out my a few here, including me, BYU was not really getting it done in the second half. But it is a moot point now.

Each team had 3 drives in the second half:
USF: 14 plays, 75 yards, TD
BYU: 4 plays, 75 yards, TD
USF: 6 plays, 54 yards, TD
BYU: 9 plays, 70 yards, Blocked 22 yard FG
USF: 19 plays, 94 yards, TD
BYU: 8 plays, 24 yards, End of game (@USF's 23)

Correct neither team stopped 5he other in second half. The onside kick was the right decision it was just not well executed

Eh, I watched the whole game and IMO it is easy to get worked up about points scored when the game is over.

And let's face it, like the Florida game, this game was over at halftime. Yes, we outscored BYU 21-7 in the second half. Just like we outscored Florida 17-7 in the second half.

But we trailed 28-6 at the half, just like we trailed Florida 35-3 at the half.

The games were over. After the first quarter, when we were gobsmacked all over the field for 15 minutes, just like vs Florida, I never once at any point, including the 4th quarter, felt we had any chance of winning. And when a game is over, there is IMO a different dynamic that the winning team has. They aren't as mentally focused, aren't playing with the same sense of urgency, etc.

When you are playing a clearly inferior team, it's called "wipe them out early, then put it in cruise control". And that's what both games felt like to me.

I will respect a Moral Victory if we lose to a ranked team 35-27 when we were within a touchdown or so of them the whole game. That's a competitive game.

BYU, IMO, was not.

Quo, you're wrong. USF had made it an 8 point game with 5 or 6 minutes left in 4th. If, for some reason we had recovered the onside kick, there is a greater than 50 percent chance we would have scored a TD, since they hadn't stopped us all night after the first quarter. At that point it would have come down to a 2 point conversion. BYU was clearly not in cruise control, but were trying to win the game. I don't care if it was 28-6 at one point. USF stepped it up and got themselves back in the game. Memphis had a 21-0 lead on UTSA and lost, and it was almost a similar situation. BYU did not stop USF at all from the end of the first quarter on (although they did force Field Goals in the second quarter instead of TD's). I watched the BYU coach interview after the game and he was very strong in his belief that USF played well and gave them fits. You could tell it was not coach speak.

Alright, we've got SMU this week, 3-0 and "receiving votes" in the AP and Coaches poll. Another tough test, and another game on the road. As of now we are a 21-point dog.

Let's hope we don't fall behind by a million points early in this one, such that when we take over the game from the second quarter on, we are able to win it.
