Yep and Cortez Hogan from Palatine was just offered by Boise St via Snow CC. College coaches always chase out players on a rebuild.
Was he chased out or he didn't have the grades? If we was talented he could have transferred to another FBS (or FCS) and followed Carey to Temple. My guess is he had to go to JUCO due to his grades.
We’re the transfer rules in effect in 2019? Then Covid 2020 screwed that season up. Who knows. CB Romel Goston is on the COD team as well. He was our highest rated recruit on defense in 2019. I don’t know or care at this point why so many defensive guys left. But it’s definitely hurting the team now.
Players have always had the opportunity to transfer. They just had to sit out one season unless transferring to a lower level or receiving a waiver from the NCAA in the past. My guess is these guys transfer to JUCO because they don't have the grades needed to maintain academic eligibility at NIU. If they're such highly touted recruits then other FBS schools should desire them and offer them to transfer.

Pause!
I knew someone would catch that! I never heard that phrase before.
Glad I could entertain ya'. ...bet Fletcher can hit, like his brother at Michigan St. Now I don't know where he stands with us as a QB, but he could play middle bet effectively.

I just brought up transfer rule because they would have to go to Juco in 2019 if today’s rules weren’t in effect. They were on the active roster in 2019 so I’m guessing they were eligible. Transferred for whatever reason and had to go Juco because they had to sit out a year. But Juco didn’t play in 2020 due to covid. So this is their first year of Juco ball. I have a feeling someone will be ringing Triebs phone next year if he even remotely keeps up this level of success. Goston had 11 offers including Iowa state. He hasnt played this season so I do t know what his deal is.
