Big win for the Bucs!!! Give Sanford credit they played a hell of a game. Their offense was dialed in today, but the Bucs defense stood up in OT.

Incredible win. Thought we were dead to rites a few times. This was probably the first time Riddell had to do more than manage the game to win. 35 attempts is a huge number for us. He ended up with a better rating than Welch and made some big time throws and importantly no mistakes. It’s great to see that he can be relied on to throw it around if needed. That Samford offense is breakneck and we’ll surely see other teams attempt to push the pace against our defense now. Coach Sanders has put together a team that never quits and that somehow keeps itself in a position to win every week.

Yes Riddell came of age today. He refused to lose and we needed every last play that he could make for us. Go Bucs.

Happy to see the way Riddell played today. Still befuddled that Sanders apparently had Landis penciled in to be the starter for game one but he got hurt. Love the progress Riddell has made. This loss would have erased all the good we had done thus far. Lets get the next monkey off our back and beat Wofford!

Thank you Bucs for playing your guts out, on the road against the highest scoring team in the SoCon and coming from 2 scores behind to win for the first time at Sanford.

Sanders finally used some different plays that resulted in big yardage and TDs. We as fans knew the Bucs had big play offensive players other than our running backs. Bucs have a terrific core of receivers and a quarterback that can get the ball to them. Unfortunately Sanders took his foot off the gas in the 2nd and 3rd quarters and the offense did very little, going 3 and out, giving the ball back to Sanford and let them get all the momentum.

Where was the defense? They were on the field for 121 plays against an uptempo offense, lineman rushing and chasing after the QB, the linebackers were either in blitzes or in pass coverage, the defensive backs ran themselves to death trying to defend 73 pass plays all because Randy went conservative, going 3 and out
not giving the defense any rest. Didn't keep the Sanford offense on the sideline.

In the last of the 4th quarter and the overtime, Bucs passing and running blew through the tired Sanford D and the Bucs D had to defend for 4 plays per 1st down in overtime because Sanford had to score a TD and they held them.

Congrats to the Bucs offense and defense, they did something noone thought they could do, beat Sanford in a shootout.

Yes. I am so happy for them and so relieved. Go Bucs!

Good win yesterday. Gotta love the meltdown over on the Samford board. According to them we arent a good team, they are just bad and thats why they lost. Lol.

Their board is basically just 2 obviously unstable posters going back and forth.

My head is still spinning! Huh? What? Our offense bailed out our defense? We may just be growing into a complete winning program. Go Bucs!

This game has to go down as one of the most fun and entertaining ETSU football games of all time. So sweet it was on the road too. I'll admit I was getting annoyed with our defense not being able to keep up with Samford's up-tempo offense, but our offense stood toe-to-toe and kept us in the game. Such a fun one, congrats to the players and coaching staff!

RE: Official Game Thread: Samford (W 55-48 OT)
A couple of questions: If you get blocked into the receiver of a punt is that a block in the back / 15-yard penalty? Why does the SOCON and NCAA still have a judge in the defensive backfield behind the LBs? Samford used them several times as 12th offensive player, running pick plays and rubs off of the judge. And again on our offense, we had them in the way of our Tight ends. SOCON needs to get that back judge out of there. NFL puts them on the sideline. We can afford another 150.00 per game for another side judge.
