I now feel pretty confident UAB is far down the tracks toward an invitation. It is one we have EARNED. I hope all Blazers rejoice in it regardless of whether it's the AAC lineup we hoped to join. The truth of the matter is that there had to be openings for us to get in ... Where we have come since

Regardless of what the west looks like, I like what seems like our east-side home.

I guess it's the long time UAB fan in me but I can't relax about it until it's official. Don't want to end up flat on my back with Judy looking down at me.

I'll wait for the ink to dry before spiking the football, too.

I would bet we will play in C-USA in 2022. So I'd guess 2023. Dates wont be determined until Texas/OU determine when they are going to the SEC. All squirrels not named BYU will probably change nests at the same time.

Aresco got a three year extension today. It's on the AAC Board or you can Google it.

I wonder if that is a reward for news to come or just necessary to lure teams? Could be like a coach contract extension just so they can recruit.

C-USA requires a 14-month notice, FWIW.

FWIW, it's pretty much unsubstantiated rumor from what I see.

@AuburnBlazer

Boise State and SDSU are reportedly not interested in the AAC.

In my opinion, the AAC needs to turn their focus back to the East and snag App State, Louisiana, UAB and FAU

I don't think AF and CSU are tied to Boise and SDSU either way. What Aresco wants, I am sure, is panic in the West. Might be able to shake loose some folks.

I actually read something that said BS/SDSU had no desire but Air Force & CSU are willing to listen (may be negotiations behind the scenes which may be the Aresco extension announced publicly).

SDSU and Boise have no desire because they think they are getting a Pac12 or Big12 invite in the near future. CSU and AFA are simply getting ahead by getting out of the MWC before it explodes. When you look at it this way it makes sense.

AFA and CSU isn't happy with the MWC which is why they would leave the conference. At the end of the day there will still be a MWC/AAC, just slightly diminished versions of themselves.

The MWC schools are gonna think they get better if AFA/CSU leave. They'd just try to get C-USA Texas schools in big markets. And C-USA eastern teams would think the same that C-USA gets better losing Texas. And Sun Belt is just sitting there thinking they'll pick off some valuable properties.

It's all kinda funny, TBH.

AAC commish Mike Aresco told me there are still a lot of issues they have to work though, but he still thinks they can wind up at 12. "There clearly are questions being asked and you have to resolve them," he said. The commissioners will meet again next week in Chicago.

I'm told a vote on expansion will NOT take place next week.

I believe this quote is in regards to CFP expansion, not AAC adding new members.

Sadly the logo did more than winning 2 of 3 titles for some of them. 01-wingedeagle01-wingedeagle

Quote:CBS Sports reported earlier this month that CFP expansion was unlikely to be approved at next week's meeting, one that was originally thought to be scheduled as a means of rubber stamping an expanded 12-team playoff field.

What has become clearer in recent days is why. The issues have become familiar.
