a look at the BLACK BEARS
The Bears are 1 - 2. They lost to Delaware (2 - 1) 34 - 24 and to James Madison
(3 - 0) 55 - 7. They beat (1 - 3) Merrimac 31 - 27.

They rush for 82 yds per game while passing for 188. If we can contain the edges and get a decent pass rush the Black Bears should return to Orono 1 - 3.

GO HUSKIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!![/align]

I didn't realize a bunch of the FCS teams the MAC has already played only have 40 scholarships. I assume Maine has the normal 65 or however many scholarships the full FCS teams have.

RE: a look at the BLACK BEARS
So is NIU playing the role of Michigan this week and Maine is playing the role of NIU? So a 50 pt Huskies win and touchdowns every time but a couple that they have the ball.

I think they will make a comeback because the game is in Dekalb.

Maine also has a former Huskie on their roster, Jordan Rowell who red shirted the 2017 season and played one game in 2018 before transferring.

Hopefully this is a good game to get them in the right frame of mind going into the conference schedule.

RE: a look at the BLACK BEARS
The only person I've ever heard of who played at Maine is comedian Nick Di Paolo who was a running back for the Black Bears back in the mid '80s.

And for some odd reason, I found that out probably some 15 years ago and I've never forgotten it.

Off topic but related to the Maine game, could someone please post if/when they see STF's "plan" to fix the problems associated with Wyoming game? He promised to relate what's been done.

Yea I think he was asking what changes actually have taken place, or will take place before the Maine game.

Did he say he would be in communication with the planned changes and/or updates? If he did, I missed that part.

Yes, he absolutely did. He said changes would be communicated prior to the Maine game. SEE LAST PARAGRAPH.

They also were trying to hire someone for a position titled “game day experience” director. Sounds like they had someone just handling it as a side gig to their other responsibilities.

As Bill Belichick famously said.... "We are on to Maine." We got our butt kicked against a very good Michigan team. It's over and done with. Watch the film, learn, and get back to practice.

DESTROY MAINE.

Go Huskies. See ya'll Saturday!

RE: a look at the BLACK BEARS
Been reading this board for a few years, first time poster. Great having an active NIU Sports community.

Overall I think the defense continues to be a big concern. Not to take anything away from the great win week 1, but we were lucky GTs starting QB couldn't hit the broad side of a barn, receivers were open and otherwise that score would have been run up early. Our defense goes through stretches (often early in games) where they essentially gives 0 resistance.

I like most here really don't like how soft we play coverage. Gives easy throws to the opposing QB to get in rhythm, plus we still give up the big plays. No excuse to play that way against Maine or other MAC schools anyhow. Get physical, aggressive and make it difficult for the offense.

Welcome Lynch. Along with the D starting slow the Offense has scored 36 of it’s 75 points in the 4th quarter. So yeah, the team is really misfiring. But as you know if you’ve been spectating here, it only takes one good game to turn the attitudes around.
