2. We covered
3. We were lucky IU was not up 28
4. IU 14-0 then UC 38-10 despite B10 refs.
5. Should Luke have an inter squad 15 minute game before the start of the real game
6. IU fans are generally quite hospitable.
7. Some IU fan told me "you guys really travel big!"
8. We UC fans may have really affected a bunch of IU drives at our end.
9. Late in the game we answered IU over rated chant with WE ARE RATED chant.
10. Brutally HOT!
11. Punting was decent. Place kicking left 4 on the floor.
Just got back from Bloomington about 30 minutes ago. My observations:
1. Once again we show that we are a second, third & 4th quarter team half team.
2. The defense more often than not shows they often bend but don't break mentality.
3. The targeting call was a wakeup call for our offense.
4. I'm thankful that I was able to buy tickets on the secondary market.
5. Trying to get out of Bloomington is 20 times worse than trying to get out of Clifton. Thank God we have Google maps.
6. Tucker is lightning fast.
I'm sure I'll think of more tomorrow.
Thanks Jeff, Doss, Cat, Racinejake and others who went to the game. Any guess how many Bearcats faithful attended? It didn't look from TV that there was a definitive Cats section - fans were spread out all over.
Sections 1,101, 2, 102 were almost all uc. 103 maybe 25% uc. i was in section 30. from 30 over to 27 i’d say 15% uc.
Pretty good showing i’d say.
iu fans mostly friendly, with the exception of the young, male ones. Got 3 or 4 f yous merely by waiting in line for the shuttle.
I know why iu annoys me. it’s just as douchey as miami, except a lot bigger. They are a weird bunch.
Haven't you ever seen the movie "Breaking Away" (1979). It was filmed on and around the IU campus in Bloomington. The frat boy characters in the movie and hot chicks are classic IU.
Places like IU and Miami are exactly why I chose UC many years ago. Its not perfect, but at least it has about as much diversity as you are going to get in this part of the country and there are not to many Biffs and Muffy's running around.
Writer Steve Tesich won an Oscar for the Breaking Away screenplay. Five years later, he was in my neck of the woods filming American Flyers, another cycling film which starred Kevin Costner, Rae Dawn Chong, David Marshall Grant, Alexandra Paul, Luka Bercovici, and Robert Townsend, among others. It was anything but a memorable flick, but my daughter was an extra and appeared on-screen for perhaps 1/10-second in two different shots, so she can at least claim that she starred in a movie with Kevin Costner. Much of local the action was filmed at Colorado National Monument, where I was serving as Chief Park Ranger at the time, so I was responsible for ensuring that filming didn't adversely impact resource values or the visitor experience, and I was on-location up to 14 hours each day for two weeks. I met all of the actors, and my wife and I had lunch one day with the Director, John Badham. His sister Mary starred in the role of Scout in To Kill a Mockingbird, the only movie role she ever had.

Interesting sidebar. "Breaking Away" was a good film and still seems to be Bloomington's claim to fame, along with endless repetitions of Mellencamp tunes inside and outside the stadium.
Regarding their campus, I hadn't been there in a long time and I too was unimpressed with the look of their signature limestone clad buildings. Most fans seemed friendly but the frat boys tried in vane to be rude and abusive at times. Most of those types beat it out the exits long before UC fans were prepared to leave the impromptu postgame celebration.
Watching yesterday in that scorching heat, I feared it was going to be one of those, "would have, could have, should have," themed drives home from a highly touted road game against a P5 team. Thankfully, the Bearcats were really tough in the second half and fought back to win a very close game that suddenly became a two touchdown win on the scoreboard as the IU fans dispersed.
Finally, some fans and media who worship at the First Church of the P5 will continue to denigrate UC's success. Just keep winning.

I went with my IU brother and his IU sons. They were civil but I could tell they were salivating at the thought of IU beating UC.
I said before the game that I thought we were better but I was afraid of that Cincinnati thing taking over and UC laying an egg. Through 1.25 quarters I looked to be accurate.
He said before the game that IU finally has a sold out stadium and a great atmosphere and it would be so IU football to blow it. He said he felt IU would play well but in the end do too many stupid things and let UC came back and win.
He nailed it.
I was at the opposite end as the UC fans. There were couple of packs of UC people near us. Much like the team, we were nearly overrun early but hung in there and were triumphant in the end. I found a rather high percentage of IU fans to be quite mouthy. I think they really thought they'd run us.
Bloomington is a podunk town that has no clue how to handle a large crowd. None. Their philosophy for heavy traffic and a large crowd is... huh ,what? They didnt do a thing to alleviate congestion. Nothing. They didnt even change their light patterns. So basically they just expected 50,000 fans to get out through literally one lane.
And then you had the 10 mile long line to make the right turn in Nashville.
Jeeminy.

Not true about doing nothing to expedite traffic leaving. I parked in a church near tennis courts and main IU parking lot. They ran both sides of street up to 46. Rt 46 west to Nashville was slow but being slow in a cool car after 6 hours in heat and sun was welcome.

So they let everybody out on a side street? Great.
46 was one lane from the stadium to the left turn on the main drag out of town. Then once out on main drag the light patterns stopped the 50,000 cars on the main drag every 30 seconds to let Ethel out of the Whole Foods parking lot. If I hadn't done some creative driving and pissing some people off I'd probably still be sitting there.

American Flyers. Great flick. I still watch it about once every two years.
Ask anyone who rides a bicycle with regularity if they understand what "Eddie" means.

Yeah but on the flip side, at least we got a nice driving tour of backwoods...Indiana? How does such a narrow state have so many inaccesible towns???
S/O to the IU students btw. I got called a p***** 3 times before I even made it to my seat. After the first score, some dbag turned around, yelled "**** YOU!" in our faces, and kept his middle finger up until the celebration stopped.
Also, after yelling "You guys are welcome for the sellout" one of them responded with "You guys are welcome for Michael Lindauer"??
BearcatsUC is right. They're a bigger, more arrogant version of Miami. The girls were pretty though. I'll give them that.

I found IN 446 that took me out to US 50 all the way to 275. Getting to 446 wasn't easy, but with help of Google I got out of that hell hole in about 60 minutes after getting to my car at the Poplar garage.

At the poplar garage bus stop alone, my friend was assaulted by at least three f yous. One dude literally got within inches of his face to yell the profanity. Yeah, my friend was wearing a UC t shirt and hat, but he was literally just standing, waiting for the bus. The funny thing about this is that he’s from Texas, didn’t give a crap about the game, and wore the UC stuff because I asked him to.
Talk about a guy who wanted to get the hell out of bloomington. I repeatedly apologized for putting him through the IU debacle.
The most gracious IU fan I encountered was a young man with Down’s syndrome.
You’d think a football team with such a spotted history would have a less aggressive and caustic fan base.

On Twitter, the Indiana U. Barstool account posted and bragged a video showing some IU fans running over and flipping the tables at some UC tailgate. The UC fans looked elderly. Real classy bunch over there in Bloomington.

If it matters, I made sure their students heard us on the way out lol. We won't be getting any invites to Bloomington parties anytime soon.

I once thought O$U fans were the worst. I’ve seen UC play in Columbus three times and did not experience anything remotely close to what I saw and heard in Bloomington.

You could tell how many we had when we intercepted near the end up 6 and all the IU fans promptly left. It was entirely our stadium by the time the final whistle blew. Favorite chant we did near the end “who’s your daddy” in response to all the Hoosier Daddy shirts floating around campus. Besides the awful concession situation my main complaint was they blasted songs out of their PA at full volume while we were on offense right up until the snap (and sometime after) which clearly made audibles tough and definitely added to the false starts in the first half. I was hoping JC would call their athletic director at half and complain about it. Guess we can get that new sound system for Nippert with the Big 12 cash and do the same to opponents soon. Either way, this was good prep for South Bend. Can’t wait.
UC does the exact same thing with the loud music.

RE: Game Day Thread: Cincy at iu
Traveled to Indianapolis from Dayton on Friday evening and stayed at a hotel near the airport close to Rt.67. Traffic was heavy leaving at 7:30 AM Sat. morning. 67 became a cluster at route 39 cutting over to 37 which was a real mess with traffic lights but patrolman were controlling the traffic lights. 37 turned into I-69 and sailed into the Walnut st exit right up to rt.45. Left turn and found a $20 parking at Genesis Church at about 8:45. Mostly IU folks but were some UC people there. Church allowed us to use rest rooms in the church. No problems with anybody saying anything to my. Crossing 45 to head for the stadium a middle ages IU fan crossed the street with us and said we had a good team, wished us luck and have a good day. Walking on into the stadium thru the tailgates nothing was said to us. Exit was just as easy getting out of the lot back out to walnut and up I 69 to the cluster at Martinsville again. This time no patrolman?????? Back up to 465 around to Rt 40 as I-70 is a mess. Found a Skyline Chilli for our victory celebration. In fairness I went over a weekend before and scoped out the best way from Dayton and where to park. Sorry some of you folks had a bad experience.
Heading to Notre Dame in two weeks. Go Cats!

I once thought O$U fans were the worst. I’ve seen UC play in Columbus three times and did not experience anything remotely close to what I saw and heard in Bloomington.
Agreed. OSU seems to have driven out most of the townies (staties?) that were complete asshats. As others have said, IU = Miami on a bigger stage.

RE: Game Day Thread: Cincy at iu
We were walking through the main parking lot and two IU fans asked us if we wanted a cold drink. We said yes inside they ran out of bottled water. They offered cold water, cokes or beer. We took waters and talked for a minute. IU grads from Cincy.
So I guess ones opinion depends on who one interacted with.
Remember 9/24/22 we get to return what we got in Bloomington.

You know, I kinda expect it from the kids.
But I had a couple of occasions where guys easily in their 40's were mouthing off. I have to admit I was embarrassed for them.

I thought that was part of being a student. Obviously there is a line to cross, but the amount of times I said **** Ville, or Eat **** Pitt in earshot of their fans is numerous.
As for OSU fans I have always felt everyone's experience with them is so odd. I am from Columbus and live here. I fly my UC flag on my house, and wear UC gear all the time, even on campus when I would party there when visiting friends. Never have I once had anyone make much of a negative comment except light ribbing from my friends. If I ever get any comments they are generally positive and have been since I became a fan in 2006. I get more **** from Browns fans when they see my Bengals keychain.
