There is so little thought and effort put into coverage of UAB, at this point, why even bother. A collection of BlazerTalkers could cover this program better from their keyboards.

And no, I don't fault Evan. I appreciate his attempts. I wish someone would coach him and help him ask better questions, get better insights and context. His bosses give him no help and do not care.

I suggested in his thread that John or Steve from the Blazer Victory Podcast should start going to or zooming into the Monday press conferences to asks questions since they are media; and let's be honest, we learn more from them than written media.

The Blazer Victory Podcast is the best information out there and it’s once a week and they have full time jobs. Writers are better and it’s not their fault. They really want to cover Bama. That’s understandable they like UAB but loves Bama. I wish Steve and John wrote a blog are something. It’s our fault as well. The Blazer Victory Podcast hasn’t reached 500 subscribers yet. Why?

No, I do. Same problem was at the top. Torraine was the symptom, not the disease.

Also, UaB football was so bad then that the lack of coverage was an unintentional favor.

RE: UAB seeks redemption entering conference opener at North Texas
There is such an opportunity in this market to crush Al dot com. This isn't just UAB. The high schools coverage is terrible (not the fault of people covering it; they bust their tails). The commitment just isn't there at al dot com unless it's a big click mover or something they can attach sponsor dollars to (think their SEC Shorts or Reckon brands).

Specific to UAB, athletics isn't even AL dot com's worst failing. The university itself is the No. 1 impact on life in the state of Alabama. There are literally 100 stories out of the university that Al dot com could do per week, and these extend far beyond the medical wing of which they do a terrible job too. But they literally have no one doing this coverage of the university as a whole. They wait for UAB to send them a press release most of the time.

There have been several attempts over the years by some outlets to provide the kind of coverage that should be provided. Some of this was very good. However, no one was willing to pay for it.

I know some very talented people who would do this, and within two weeks they would make Al dot com a thing of the past. But quality isn't free. It ain't even cheap. And there's the rub. Which is why Al dot com wins by doing next to nothing.

Blazer Victory Podcast is the best place to learn anything. Make sure to subscribe to them and interact with them on social media. Let them know you appreciate them.
I will say without going into to much detail that there were attempts to do something other than Al com but those attempts were squashed by the athletic department because of one article or tweet i cant recall criticized how bad our bball team was playing. The athletic department did not like that and wanted nothing but sunshine pumping so they revoked all media access for that particular entity.

Alec Etheredge does a good job out at Shelby County Reporter covering that county's high school sports. Not sure if there is something similar for Jefferson County. If not for Alec and SCR, sports like soccer and volleyball would get zero coverage.

Kyle Palmerly (SP?) does a good job here in Jefferson and also is our clock keeper for the women's basketball team and for the men some also.

I do fault Evan, to a point, because he is extremely lazy. I do agree, however, that this is mainly the fault of al.com leaders. They should be embarrassed. Truth is, they are satisfied with how they treat UAB. It's a shame. I guess all we can do now is await this week's ridiculous position by position story. Hooray.

They are probably paying Evan about $50 a story and have him on a monthly limit. At a point, when it's clear they have no interest in helping you or promoting you and don't really want any unbudgeted stories from you beyond the formula of gameweek, I imagine motivation wanes.
