Future Scheduling
Once B12 has 12 I think 8 Conference games works best. 5 in division and half of opposite each year. OOC play one P5, 2 G5, one FCS. P5 should be H/A.

09/17 - vs Miami (Ohio) (in Cincinnati, OH)..
09/24 - Indiana

RE: Future Scheduling
If Big 12 goes to 8 games, the other teams will have a lot of shuffling to do.

BYU will have to get rid of a lot of games. Kansas, TCU, etc will all have to add a game, at what is basically the last minute.

RE: Future Scheduling
I suspect we'll do a good deal of shuffling regardless. In 2023, for example, I can't see us playing at Pitt and at NC State during our first year in the Big 12. And, I'm fine with an occasional home and home with the likes of WKU and OU, but we have to play at least two OOC games in Nippert (not Paul Brown v. Miami) each year.

BYU can provide many needed games. https://fbschedules.com/ncaa/byu/

Wow! Did we luck out or what?

We get $500,000 AND we get to schedule another home game! (or at least half of a home-and-home series)

We have Pitt and at Miami U on the schedule now for 2024. A lot will depend on whether the BXII remains at three OOC games or moves to four. If it remains at three, we’ll probably just add an FCS team. If it goes to four we’ll add an FCS and an FBS opponent.

Bolded, I agree. The non-conference scheduling strategy will change now as the "bigger" games for fans will suddenly be in the conference.

A regional P5 opponent, a MAC school, and one more G5 may fill the bill. Generating 2-3 wins pre-conference will pave a pathway to bowl eligibility by winning a minimum of 3-4 conference games in what will be more competitively challenging than ever before. Of course we all want to be more than just minimally eligible for a bowl, but that should be the new baseline expectation for Bearcat football. And most of those BXII bowls are far more attractive than what the AAC offers.

With Pitt already on our home slate, I'd be fine with an FCS/ MAC buy game.

When he appeared on the BCJ podcast a few weeks ago, Cunningham said his scheduling philosophy was to schedule an easy game, a moderately tough game, and one that was “a reach”. Seems to me we have the first two, so we could see UC shoot for an elite program with this opening.

Hear you on that, but an elite program could mean a road game and really depends on the 5/4 balance of home and road in conference. We should ideally have 7 home games per year, and never fewer than 6.

It's like Christmas. Get paid and get added scheduling flexibility. I know they needed to move to get that check from osu but there's a chance we would have eventually bought out that contract if they didn't

No one wanted to go to Kalamazoo anyway. Christmas in October!

In business I always said the best deal is when everyone leaves the table feeling like a winner. This is one of those deals!
