The greatest mistake Jackie Sherrill and Pitt made was parting ways. Neither ever approach that level of success again.

Here is an interesting article questioning how many championships Majors might have won had he stayed at Pitt.

Pitt can win national championships with the right coaching staff - there's enough talent in PA and OH to build that kind of roster.

Before we get that we need the administration to accept that we can be academically focused and still have a national championship caliber football program. The academic side of Pitt has sabotaged the football program repeatedly in our history. Every time we get to elite status the egg heads start trying to kneecap the program. I was there the last time it happened in the mid 80s.
