RE: SBC looking to expand?
Give me Charlotte, Marshall, App, Liberty, ODU, Coastal, Georgia St., Georgia Southern, FAU, FIU & ECU and I don’t care about the rest.

This conference includes four of the top ten football recruiting states. Coastal just had a major donor give a large sum, Liberty has plenty of money, it has Metro teams, mountain teams, a beach team, most teams have 3 teams within five hrs driving and the conference has great
baseball & basketball potential

Coastal, Ga So, and Ga St sponsor the sport though. We would make 4 teams. UK, WVU, USC could all switch their affiliations to the SBC I suppose.

I don't see us joining the SBC unless AAC takes ODU, Charlotte, WKU, FAU which would really leave us in a pickle in CUSA East.

I could be wrong of course, but I think we will need to wait and see what the AAC does first.
App would restart soccer. 5 is enough for a conference. We'd probably get a few associate members too from the MAC that would be falling apart .

We have no intention of waiting. Keith Gil is no idiot. He sees the AAC as being incredibly weakened, and knows that with the right adds he could persuade his own membership to stay put, putting the SBC Into a position to challenge for the best G5 league

Lets be clear, every team in CUSA knows whether or not they are an AAC target right now.

That's what I think as well. Depending on who the AAC invites and who else is invited to the Sun Belt then I would strongly consider this as a Marshall fan.

There was a rumor a week or so ago about the Sun Belt commissioner being in Huntington, which at the time seemed a little crazy (why would he be in Huntington?) Now I'm wondering if it was true, and I will say the rumor came from one of our pay boards and came from what I consider the most reputable Marshall poster out there.

I’m pretty positive it wasn’t true. I’ve been talking to the AState president, he’s been coy about it all and his response to the tweet was we are always looking for the right schools if there is opportunity.

Both Little Rock and UTA are likely to move at some point in the near future. They'd be gone tomorrow for the right invite.

SBC Will not force either to leave, but we've made it clear that if App and Coastal are playing football the same day LR is playing Texas in basketball, the App/CCU game is getting the league's marketing reach.

If there is a CUSA soccer after the spinning stops, my guess is CUSA would want to keep the defending national champions and a top 10 soccer program even as an affiliate. But then again we are talking about Judy.

Covid season success?

Four of the past five seasons the Sun Belt garnered more from the CFP than CUSA based on the performance bonus.

Yep. We've got some crazies on our board who actually think we have a chance in hades at the AAC because we have Memphis old AD.

Meanwhile, UAB probably has a marketing team that's working on a promotion in case they "happened" to join another conference at some point.

I think CUSA definitely has a better collection of individual schools. Our current conference leadership is outright inept, our geography is worse, our media deals have been inexplicable, and we have no unifying identity or strategy.

I honestly think at this point most of us are better off pursuing other avenues than staying together with this conference's leadership.

I wasn't comparing CUSA football to Sun Belt football. I was comparing the Sun Belt's one season of having Top 25 teams happening when there were many canceled games among Power Conference schools due to COVID. I also said that football is not the only driving factor in expansion.

Dude, what the f*** is your problem? I went to your board to discuss the exact same points I've always said here, which is that our president has said a realignment on regional affiliation is what we're looking for.

The Sun Belt conference fans can suck a ****.

And anyone that knows me here knows I'm a super reasonable poster, can't have that conversation there, nope...

RE: SBC looking to expand?
This is ridiculous. Some of you fellow C-USA guys have gone nuts. Use your head for something besides a hat rack!! Joining the Sun Belt just because you don't like the commish? Playing football on Tuesday or Wednesday nights (even though only once or twice a season). Signing up for a LONNGG term deal where espn owns your soul for not much more than we make now.

The SBC is just POSTURING (if this report is true). Sure hope our presidents and AD's have more moxie than some posters here.

No I don't have a perfect, quick solution-- but I can assure you running to the SBC like a bunch of scared little girls is not the answer.
