Mens basketball 21-22
Figure with schedule out we can start discussing the team and the games. Obviously each game will get its own thread, most likely, but a standard discussion thread without clogging up the schedule thread seems like a good idea.

RE: Mens basketball 21-22
For my season projections: Overall 20-10 (12-6), OOC 8-4

11/9- Nuemann- W
11/12- Farleigh Dickinson- W
11/14- @Syracuse- L
11/17- @St Joes- W
11/22- Nassau Championship- Tulane- W
11/23- Nassau Championship- Toledo/Charlotte- L
11/24- Nassau Championship- W
12/4- @Princeton- W
12/11- @Abilene Christian- L
12/14- Coppin St- W
12/18- @Temple- L
12/21- @La Salle- W
12/29- CofC- W
12/31- @UNCW- L
1/3- Towson- W
1/5- JMU - W
1/11- Delaware- W
1/15- Northeastern- L
1/17- @Hofstra- L
1/20- Elon- W
1/22- W&M- W
1/27- @JMU- L
1/29- @Towson- W
2/5- @Delaware- L
2/10- Hofstra- W
2/12- Northeastern- L
2/17- @W&M- W
2/19-@Elon- W
2/24- UNCW- W
2/26- CofC- W

I think we are looking at a top 3 finish in conference. I think we have the ability to be a top team and repeat. There are some major questions on how we replace TJ and Walton and whether the bursts late with the freshman stick and they take the leap as sophomores. I think we will be competing with Delaware and JMU at the top. Northeastern will be right there as well.

I think we lose a couple road games we shouldnt (Hofstra and UNCW) but we mostly hold in the other games. OOC I think it will be pretty cut and dry. We will beat the bad teams and lose to those who are decent or good. How we show up against Tulane in Nassau could dictate how that tournament goes and how we bounce back against Princeton. If we lay an egg down there, I have trouble seeing us come out of the holidays and win on the road against Princeton.

If we are for real and last years spurt late was not a fluke, we should be able to compete well against Temple and Abilene Christian and have a chance in Nassau to make the "final". I may be optimistic (shockingly), but this team really should take a leap and compete consistently. If we don't take that leap and maintain being at the top, then other discussions probably should be considered. As it stands we are the defending CAA champs and I like our chances to follow that up with a repeat. We return far too much to stay mediocre

You missed a game in your record counts and it should be 12-6 and 20-10 overall.

I know that their ultimate goal would be to repeat as champions. 20 wins and giving themselves a legitimate shot of repeating is all I can really ask for as a fan.

Whoops. Fixed. Thanks, JB. I would agree with that stance.

I am most excited to see what Bell does on the heels of last season. Excited to see whether Brown truly adds outside shooting that we desperately need. Curious to see if Amari takes that next step to complement James Butler. On paper we should be really good in the CAA. I have my doubts just how good (as you can see above)

There is absolutely no way we run the table in conference. It hasnt been done, to my knowledge, and our team is not that strong to do so. Our road history is certainly not strong enough to think we dont stumble anywhere on the road. I hope youre right though.

I hope you saw the "haha" after his post. I commend DFL for his optimism.

I did but thats why I made him spell it out to see just how insane and ridiculous he was being. I am genuinely curious where people think we end up this year

Really it doesn't mater even if we didn't win one regular season game it is all about Champ week.

I disagree. Even in a one-bid league, you want to do good enough to get a higher seed. The first year you might be happy just making the dance like last year, so maybe getting a low seed and blown out in the first round isn't so bad. But eventually, you want to be the team pulling the upset. I was around back in the 90s and it was much more satisfying experience when Drexel actually won a game in the NCAA tournament. I suppose UMBC showed that it can be done as a 16 seed, but it is much more likely if you can get up to a 13th or 12th seed.

Is Timmy Perry playing this year? He is still listed on Verbal but his name isn't on the website.

I have no confirmation, but if he was removed from the official roster on drexeldragons.com, we should assume that he graduated and chose not to take the extra year.

I hope the progression we saw late last season continues. He could be a massive game changer for us.

I hope your prediction is right

It's great that we got a game on real national cable TV. I will be at a Rider game at that time so I won't be watching live. I'll have to watch on delay, not knowing the score. Of course, if they win, I'm sure my phone will be blowing up, so I probably won't be able to pull this of if there's a good result. If I don't hear anything, I'm going to watch assuming they lost.

You could turn off your phone and imagine you're back in the Malik era. Don't listen to the radio until you can get home and hit rewind on your VCR.
