RE: Mens basketball 21-22
Here are CBS rankings for the season:
Link

"Early reports out of Philly have this club with a higher shooting ceiling and a better defensive mindset. Go-to guy: Cam Wynter, who has improved yearly from 33 to 36 to 42% as a 3-point shooter. Dragons fact: starting five in last season's CAA title game had fewer than 10 combined scholarship offers coming out of high school."

JMU- 125
Drexel- 135
Northeastern- 136
Delaware- 190
Elon- 209
Hofstra- 232
Charleston- 253
UNC Wilmington- 303
Towson- 306
William & Mary- 325

I like the little fun fact. That shows that Coach Spiker is either great at finding those hidden gems, or he's really good at pulling them in early before other schools can get a good look.

The one thing that should be noted about the fun fact is it isn't true - at least according to Verbal Commits TJ himself had 20 offers. But other than TJ, the team was (and for the most part still is) made up of lightly recruited guys. The three guys off the bench in that game (Juric, Okros, and Perry) only had offers from Drexel.

I am sure they meant starting 5 for this season, not from last years squad. Otherwise that is a pretty big omission. Its easy to look at a current roster and miss the fact that a player portal'd away

They explicitly say the starting five from last season's CAA title game. The less than 10 combined number likely won't be true for this year's starting five either as you have to think either Martin or Oden will start - they both had 8 D1 offers, Butler had 3, so there you are already at 11.

I am aware what they stated. I was trying to justify what they possibly meant. Reality is they likely just completely overlooked TJ

The season starts on the 9th against Neumann, with a pregame banner drop ceremony. No exhibitions this year at the DAC where fans are allowed in. Not sure if they've had any scrimmages yet.

Sorry I dont count a game against a non-DI as a real game. Its an exhibition. But since they are doing the banner, I guess we need to promote the heck out of that game to support that achievement.

It still counts in the standings, just like the other 300+ games that Division I schools are playing against non Division I opponents. It's just something we have to accept as reality these days. I'm not sure though why some games count as real games and some as exhibitions, such as the women playing CH as an exhibition. I guess it's just about timing at the date of the game.

Schedule had a scrimmage against Lehigh on Oct.30th

You're right that it is the timing. D1 schools are allowed two games against other schools before the season starts. If they are against other D1 schools they can't be played in front of fans; for non-D1 schools it can be and exhibition in front of fans.

What I don't get is why if it is home games you're looking for, why not play Neuman as an exhibition, and then take a school like Lehigh (who could do the same as they have a non-D1 on their schedule) and have a home and home. Then every other year you get another home game. UNCW had an exhibition the other day and they gym looked pretty full, they had it on Flohoops; it seemed to me like any other game against a nonD1. In their case, they have two more non-D1 schools on their regular schedule, I suppose at least we can be thankful we're not doing that.

RE: Mens basketball 21-22
Guess I may as well go on record to look bad come March.

11/9- Nuemann- W
11/12- Farleigh Dickinson- W
11/14- @Syracuse- L
11/17- @St Joes- L
11/22- Nassau Championship- Tulane- L
11/23- Nassau Championship- Toledo/Charlotte- W
11/24- Nassau Championship- W
12/4- @Princeton- L
12/11- @Abilene Christian- L
12/14- Coppin St- W
12/18- @Temple- L
12/21- @La Salle- L

OOC: 5-7

NU 1-1
HU 1-1
UD 0-2
TU 2-0
JMU 1-1
WM 2-0
EU 1-1
UNCW 1-1
CC 1-1

CAA: 10-8
OVERALL: 15-15

Don't like being a downer, especially on opening night. Think we'll very much miss TJ and see last year as a bit fluky where we were mostly healthy and never got shut down by a Covid case. Could see us going 0-2 against NU and/or JMU, so that 10-8 is my optimistic record.

1. .412 Trevor John (2018-19)

He was a graduate transfer from California who shot a lot of 3's, but the team wasn't very good that year. I think his lack of defense may have played into that.

Seriously? He was basically the first grad transfer we brought in that ever did anything. He was probably the best shooter we had since Fouch. It was a shame we only got 1 year out of him

Tonight's FDU game is postponed. Apparently FDU had a bus breakdown on the way.
