That does sound like there’s going to be a big correction. Really wish I could bet on it. Home team gets 3 points so 10 point favorites on a neutral site??? Oh, and it’s an early game on a long road trip for a home opener. Hell no!!

It’s machine driven. Machines don’t like “recent” data. They like robust past performances. Every year you will run in to lines that are way off early in the year - it’s because the machine data hasn’t adapted.
In that case, any other teams make a huge improvement this year NOT in Illinois come to mind?? Let’s all make some money.

Bell, Michigan’s star WR out for the season. But, man that beat down they put on Western doesn’t make me feel very optimistic. Worry about that next week…

That’s basically why Vegas can do this. The vast majority of the betting public has no idea what teams are making moves machine data can’t quite grip yet.

Plus, a “weaker than expected” result is more likely to drive bettors. For example Ball State was weaker than expected. The gambling public doesn’t think “fluke” they think…”oh wow they are weaker than I thought”. But the truth is it could be either.

A trending up team the fans know the team is better and why. NIU is a prime example.

Not being a fan, but looking at data, UTEP appears to be trending on last seasons data and only 1 week of “solid” data against an FBS team.

They get 26 points. Absolutely wild…someone call a UTEP fan and ask why they are playing better than last season. Opponent is a reason…but they genuinely seem better.

This game terrifies me. The Huskies are disciplined, fast, and much improved. Coming into their home opener with Georgia Tech's pelt in their belt, the Huskies will be confident and smelling blood. Wyoming's defense will have it's hands full. The Cowboy's offense needs to start a lot faster than they did against Montana State. They'll need to find a passing game. UW QB Sean Chambers will have to be on from the get go. It will be a close run thing if the Pokes pull this one out. Wyoming 24, NIU 21.

This will be a test for a real young team. Can they bring it two games in a row? Young teams tend to be inconsistent and drive you crazy. That said, I have this feeling that NIU has some real strong leadership in the upper classes and we are in for a fun ride all year.

Huskies- 28
Wyoming- 21

After the last drive at GT and more the O opens up and gets more creative. The D bends but doesn't break and holds Wyoming to FGAs instead of TDS.

Huskies 27
Wyoming 20

NIU seemed to overachieve, GA Tech left a lot of points. Wyoming definitely underachieved.

Trap game as Huskies are blistering with confidence and looking forward to UM.

Keep going against Huskies and be happy when they win. 03-thumbsup

Wish I could be there, but I’m recovering from surgery. (No, it’s not another sex change.). I’ll be watching from home. Have a few hot dogs for me, and make sure no one sits in my seats.

Get well DF. Hope the hot dogs didn't do it to you.

Nah, I had an extendable stainless steel implant in my privates. I made sure to tell the surgeon that it had to be stainless. I do have standards, you know! Just stay away from me if you're carrying any magnets. Then again, there may be an instant attraction! 04-jawdrop

Actually, it was a hip replacement. Surgery was successful, but the recovery will take some time. Thanks for your well wishes.

Here's the tweet from coach Hammock asking for the fans to come out:

https://twitter.com/NIUCoachHammock/stat...gr%5Etweet

One thing I'm not concerned about is our guys coming out and playing hard - I saw a lot of energy against GT (and not the least bit intimidated or the stage being too big for our young players) and I'm expecting even more so with home field advantage!

A pleasure to listen to a Coach that is informed, knows the other team and talks real football.

GT fans listen to and drank too much Coach Collins Cool-Aid.

I disagree, the only thing that kept GT in the game was all our penalties and us not keeping our foot on the pedal and barely throwing the football until the game winning drive.

GT's kicker sucked but was anyone really expecting him to make 57 and 60 yard FGs?

The game isn't won by stats and NIU proved it. They stuck to a plan. My line is always the object of a game is not to score the most points possible. It's to score more points than the other team. NIU did.

They actually could easily have had 2 more td's on the overruled fumble for td and the illegal formation on a point. But they did get outgained 400+ to 220 until NIUs 80 yard game winning drive.

I just think NIU played as well as they could have and Georgia Tech didn't realize what was available to them and their coach, well. isn't the best.

But whatever works...run/pass and play good defense when need be, extend the game, don' turn it over. And most of all, while a cliche', make players believe. I hate the term, but seemed to apply.

But can they keep it up for every game? Time will tell.

One thing Wyoming may have in their favor is the depth and maturity of the team. Though Montana State was giving them fits, particularly in the first half, the team kept grinding away until the the final must have drive for the win. The QB, Sean Chambers, executed their 2 minute drill perfectly despite this being his first game back from injury. They reflect their head coach in a lot of ways, particularly a no nonsense, resolute approach and a confidence in their abilities. This is going to be a good test for both teams. Should be be entertaining, to say the least.

Ball State's the powerhouse. I think you should look past us to that game.
