Why would UTSA want to do that?

The value of the AAC is still going to be more than CUSA, and being in a conference with SMU, Air Force, and Memphis, as well as Wichita State basketball is viewed as a step up. Hard to imagine any team from CUSA, the MAC, or Sun Belt turning down an AAC invite.

Agreed. But what will UTSA do if -and when- SMU and Memphis dart for the Big XII? We've already seen evidence (the Baylor report on another thread) that Memphis was going to be invited to the Big XII this time, but wasn't prepared to commit to building a new football stadium yet for "political reasons". Once those reasons get ironed out, I believe you can consider Memphis as good as gone from the AAC. And the same story said SMU was also being seriously considered in the next round.

They'll collect sizeable distributions in exit fees and welcome into the AAC whoever potentially replaces any teams that leave, although I do believe Boise gets into the Big XII over SMU.

Yes, and the AAC is still going to be viewed as a step up from CUSA or the Sun Belt.

LOL! And I reported that 4 weeks ago. I told ya'll that the MWC schools WOULD NOT join a more eastern based conference.

That isn't going to stop message board fans of schools who won't be invited from talking about how bad it is and how they wouldn't go if they were invited.

Exactly and it’s going to get worse after the final picks are confirmed.

RE: As the AAC Turns
I think the silence from Aresco is telling. He has clearly shot his wad and it missed the desire target completely. He knows there is no way he can save the AAC now especially with the possibility of Memphis and even SMU and USF getting invited to the Big 12 at some point. He is basically looking at a patchwork job to rebuild the AAC with programs that will not justify ESPN keeping the current TV deal in place. Still for potential new AAC members it's a better place to be than under the leadership of Judy "Take a Ride in my Jeep" McLeod.

Could eventually end up looking a lot like 2013 CUSA if SMU, Memphis, and USF ever leave.

I can see SMU and Memphis possibly leaving, but not USF.

I can't see USF either but they are in the conversation.

Louisiana Tech and UAB to the AAC alone. AAC will only take two this go round. You heard it here first.

I heard it was UAB, Bama, Auburn and USA. Aresco's master plan to dominate the state of Alabama.
