...about Liberty (of course we will see y'all TOMORROW... 05-mafia04-rock ) ...just wondering if they would be as well to stay indy, as they have powered up quite well... I'd be fine with them in whatever conference, but seems like they are making it work pretty well as-is... I guess TV deals are a big thing, but scheduling seems to be working out...

I don't think Liberty wants to stay Indy and here is why. With BYU and maybe even Army joining conferences, there are less opponents. You also have bigger conferences like the SEC, which means less out of conference games to schedule. And then you have bowl tie ins. The other thing is, Liberty's other sports, especially basketball, need to desperately get out of the Atlantic Sun. So I think Liberty is more open to a conference now than prior. I don't think they want UConn, UMass, and New Mexico State on every football schedule. These games do nothing for fan interest and attendance.

What about MTSU? Close to Nashville, in-state rival for Memphis, within the AAC footprint.

Fresno will go wherever they're told to go. It's Fresno. Gateway to Yosemite. SDSU will go too. You guys are scared to death right now. Take the AAC pill. Hope in a few years the dysfunctional Pac invites you, or be sent back into oblivion. It's business. Genuflect.

[Image: 29eafa356a3c21cdbf55857b5279a5f5577397a4...322e1e327d]

Umm, we just said no. Court Fresno if you want but please take Wyoming if you have to take one MWC team.

Funny, just a few weeks ago you guys on here were talking about raiding the B12. Now you are working your way down the MWC to see if you can get someone to bite.

Glad someone else sees it too. 03-lmfao

The real question. Is AFA and CSU actually considering the AAC or are they just using this as leverage to get more equal treatment in the MWC?

They don't have any leverage. They are middle to lower level teams. The MW's media partners have supposedly told Thompson they don't affect the Media deal. If they leave, they won't be replaced.

It's laughable to even suggest the AAC could poach NV, Fresno St or Utah St. The MW TV deal will increase in just a few years. The AAC will see their TV revenue substantially cut when UCF, UH & Cincy leave.

The AAC losses over 60% of their value when those three teams leave. Without Boise & SDSU the AAC can't come close to replacing the lost value and they don't have the clout to decimate the MW.

And there is your big answer on why AF and CSU might leave. If those two leave the MWC will not add anyone,Why? Because there aren’t any even avg candidates out west. UTEP,NMex St, the Dakotas,Montana. So now tell me if this Boise invite is imminent as they think, who will replace them? And how much of a hit you think that contract will take? If you think the AAC contract will be cut then imagine the MWC which is a bit more than half and is propped up by Boise. Now tell me who will they add?

If Boise is leaving the MWC is dead man walking because the reality is that the AAC will have better adds than the MWC.

To be honest, we would have been fine with CSU and AFA leaving. Of course, I never thought that made sense,

UAB seems like a solid add with the new stadium.
Buffalo and Rice are P5 type schools and if committed could be strong adds.
My dark horse that could do well in a new conference Ohio.
They would need to expand the football stadium but everything else is solid. With better opponents and game times their good support will increase.

I remember Louisiana brought fans to games when they played at UH in football and basketball, also had a nice crowd when UH hosted a baseball regional.

Bring them in and they will bring their fans to SMU and Tulane games, Memphis as well.

People forget the MAC schools mainly had the best fan support. But, those schools need to get out of playing weekday's nights because it hurts their attendance. The best one out of them is Toledo Rockets, and they did beat Arkansas a few years ago. They could be the next Cincinnati if they go to AAC. UTSA is another one, and they filled the Alomo Dome when they hosted Okie State.

UAB would be a bad add.

Yes scheduling has been great. We have at least 3 P5 teams a year on our schedule. I think we join the AAC if they send invite. ESPN like us and our market likes us. We have high ratings with our own Network. Which might be a problem if we join a conference. As for the game tonight, my the best 3-1 team win.... 04-cheers

I'm getting UConn Fan deja vu here.

Liberty's contract-bowl-conference opponents by year:
2021 - 2
2022 - 3
2023 - 2
2024 - 1 (I suppose UCF will be a second by then)
2025 - 2 (only 11 games scheduled)
2026 - 2 (only 9 games scheduled)

Lol.
Well then UAB, Marshall, and two solid basketball schools from the A10.

Ten in football and twelve in basketball.

For the AAC… Football only would make the most sense… if the administration decides to move at all. They seem very content in the SBC.

Well, if App State was to join football only, that we allow us to go after three A10 schools.

VCU, Richmond, Dayton, Saint Louis, or Davidson in the Charlotte area. Any three of those five would significantly boost our basketball. May be easier to entice more to come as a group. It would make Wichita happier.

And we would also be left with a solid group for football.

If we added Marshall, go after two schools from the A10.

Putting us at ten football schools, opens us up to add more later if there is more shake up with expansion.
