Congratulations to Jackson Cooley for being named to the Second Team in Sprints for the Men's Indoor Track & Field All-State team by the Virginia Association of Sports Information Directors.
Congratulations to 5 members of the Women's Lacrosse Team for earning All-CAA accolades:
Belle Martire, Caroline Hertzberg, and Serena Jacobs (a freshman) all earned recognition on the Second Team!
Serena Jacobs, Elise Palmer, and Sam Van Gieson all earned recognition on the All-Rookie team!
One interesting thing: Delaney McDaniel of Delaware won the Rookie of the Year although, very strangely, she was not named to either the All-CAA First Team or Second Team. The Tribe's Serena Jacobs did earn Second Team recognition (as did the only other freshman named to Second Team, Milana Zizakovic of Towson). Jacobs had 23 goals and 10 assists; McDaniel had 11 goals and 27 assists. I'm sure that one factor that favored McDaniel was that she played for a winning team (which is playing in the CAA finals) while Jacobs toiled for the last place Tribe. Hopefully Serena can be in the running for Player of the Year next year.

Kudos to Chris Arias for earning the CAA Men's Field Athlete of the Week! He has won the award three times this year.
Chris Arias continued his dominance in the Javelin and was named the Most Outstanding Field Performer at the CAA Men's Track & Field Championship!
Keeley Suzenski finished first in the Shot Put at the CAA Women's T&F Championship!
Congratulations to the Women's Tennis Team for sweeping the top CAA All-Conference awards!
Mila Saric earned Player of the Year for the second year in a row! Besides First Team All-CAA in Singles, she also garnered Second Team in Doubles (paired with Hedda Gurholt)! Mila will be playing next week in the NCAA Singles tournament.
Hedda Gurholt earned Co-Rookie of the Year honors, a Second Team All-CAA nod in Singles, and the aforementioned Second Team in Doubles! Incidentally, the other co-ROY (Alina Vasilenko, Delaware) was 19-2 but apparently both losses were to Gurholt. To me, that sounds like a tiebreaker in Gurholt's favor.
Raffaela Alhach earned an All-CAA spot on the Third Team in Singles, and also a Third Team nod in Doubles with Elisa Van Meeteren!
Jessica Giuggioli earned the Coach of the Year in her first year with the Tribe (really just a half year since she didn't get hired until December, after the Fall season)!
AWESOME job by all these great athletes and coach!
In what surely have to be the last awards announcements of the '21-'22 school year, the Virginia Sports Information Directors have named their All-State teams in Men's and Women's Tennis:
Men:
Harrison Brown earned Second Team in Singles!
Brown and George Davis earned Second Team in Doubles!
Women:
Mila Saric was named First Team in Singles and Second Team in Doubles (along with Hedda Gurholt)!
Gurholt was also named to the Second Team in Singles!
Raffaela Alhach and Elisa Van Meeteren were named to the Second Team in Doubles!

Thanks. When I started it I thought it would be more of a group effort...but it turned out that I did most of the entries. Once I started, I never wanted to leave anyone out...so that pretty much locked me into it all year.
