RE: Freshman Pep Rally
That's great -- and pep rallies are cool! However,....................

I'm withholding final judgment ("questions for Brian Mann") until I see how many students attend the first football game....and, more importantly, how many are still attending the third, fourth, and fifth home games.

If the student section is still filled up for those games then I will give Brian Mann all the credit in the world.

Very cool.

I think Mann has done his part in hyping up interest for sporting events and possibly getting kids out to a contest . After that it's up to the product on the field/court to keep them coming back. Sure, Mann can do things to entice and keep the fun factor up, but I'm not sure how fan attendance by week 6 has much to do with the AD. You either have a good time and want to experience something like it again (ie: winning & positive game day experience) or you feel that your time is better spent elsewhere.

RE: Freshman Pep Rally
Brian Mann’s enthusiasm and optimism have come at a critical juncture for W&M. Badly needed and appreciated. Like the new focus on gold vs green also.

I don't live in a world where I withhold appreciation of a good thing until it sustains at its peak over 2 months.

My comment was a direct response to the both defensive but still "in your face" tweet from Mann. He said "Any more questions about whether or not our students are All In on aTribeAthletics??" So, yes, I had a further question which I outlined above. If he had just tweeted out something innocuously positive then I wouldn't have had a further question --- but all of us on this board are experienced enough to know that an August freshmen pep rally does not necessarily mean any real changes are on the way for student spectating habits.

Maybe, just maybe the students are excited to get involved, begin a great four years, and do so without Covid. Just a thought. As I remember my own freshman year, I made many friendships that last to this day. Athletics and athletic events were a big part of that. No wet blankets here.

Then, just a thought, maybe that's what Mann should have said....instead of "Any more questions....".

For him to say that, seeing as how he has been on campus for such a short time, means that he must have been hearing or seeing a lot about it.

So nice to see them fired up. Hope it spreads all over campus! Sophomores are hopefully aching to bust loose.

I would think that this would be the type of event where Coach London would excel.

RE: Freshman Pep Rally
this is a really good start.

a quality team that wins games has to follow it up if you want to keep student attendance high. They will support a good product.
