Saturday Time Machine for Astate Fans

We’ll remember 07 season started off hot, putting a scare in Texas and great nonconference wins over SMU & Memphis and hanging with a solid Tennessee Vols team before the team absolutely stunk it up in conference play.
This was the last game Astate played before retiring the Indians name and boy what a game it was (I remember the last second TD making the ESPN Top Ten that night).

It always amazes me when looking at film from not that long ago, how far video media has come.

If I remember correctly, they wanted the Indian Family to make a quiet exit, so they just sort of waved to the crowd and quietly wandered off the field with a couple minutes left, never to be seen again.
That team had so much talent, but made so many mistakes. Very reminiscent of the Blake years.

The Indian family retired a season or two before we switched to Red Wolves. They were replaced by the androgynous anthropomorphic character Red, who looked related to Doug Funny.

I've always envisioned that if Howl and the Cajuns Mascot Cayenne hooked up and had a mascot baby, it would look exactly like Red.

But the first football game as Red Wolves was a great one.
