Is a Big 12 team going to continue to travel to Oxford, Ohio, every other year?
I sure hope so, because tradition. But today's game in Nippert Stadium probably isn't helping. (At least so far in the second quarter.)

I imagine the first thing UC will do after signing their new Big 12 contract will be to kill that series. Unless the RedHawks want to play in Cincy 4 out of 5 years.

Any chance it stays alive as a neutral site game at Paul Brown? That would give Cincinnati an edge without it being a true road game for Miami each year.
The place is big enough that all the season ticket holders at both schools could have it included in their ticket package and there still be plenty of room for single game sales.

ISU plays UNI still so I say it stays. Its the second longest rivalry in CFB.

Every once in a while yeah. Im not sure if its every 5 years or what. Miami also isnt FCS. That game means a lot to The Cincy area and recruiting.

It does? It doesn’t do anything for UC recruiting. Recruits come to UC because of the relationship with the coaches, the culture, the facilities, etc. I can’t recall a single recruit in recent years who said they came here to play Miami. They say they want to come here and take the program to the next level.
The contract expires in 2029 and is a 1-1-1 split (one game at PBS). I could see UC attempt to buy out of the road trips to Oxford. We’ll see.

If Miami wins that game some Indiana or UC or Kentucky kid could flip to Miami easy. They dont recruit much worse than bottom P5 teams. They havent won it in a while... and Im sure that game means more to Miami than UC if they could capitalize. But being the 2nd oldest rivalry is a selling point for sure. Lots of alums in Cincy that care im sure too.

Maybe not 1-1-1 (UC - Miami - neutral site PB).
But, after all, Oklahoma plays Tulsa on 3-1 contracts, so an unbalanced contract might still go ahead. Stretch it to 2-1-1, maybe. That could be officially touted as an "extension" of the contract rather than a cancellation, but on a tally, all the additional games would be UC home games.
If the new Big12 plays 8 conference games, there's no particular need to worry about which game goes in which year, but if they play 9, it could be sorted out so Miami plays at UC in years that UC has 4 Big12 home games.

I agree. The reality of the situation is that moving forward Cincinnati is going to be a middling XII team if you look at its support numbers compared to Oklahoma St, Iowa State and West Virginia. They may desire having a shot at winning against a MAC school.
Miami to its credit is also on the rise with facility investment and while its not in a position yet to beat a Top 8 ranked UC it could do so once they fall back to earth some.

UNI hasn’t played a home game vs a non-FCS team in over 20 years and probably much longer than that. They’ve played at Iowa St. eleven times since 2000, at Iowa five times, at BYU, Ok. St., and Ohio U. once each. A couple of years they had no “upper” division opponent.
When they can fill up Jack Trice or Kinnick stadium it would be almost financially irresponsible to play one of those games at the UNI-Dome. Money, money, money.

RE: Future of Victory Bell
We no longer play home and home. The games are in Cincy about 75% of the time, with some of them at Paul Brown. I would note that the last two times the game was played in Oxford, Miami was ahead with 2 minutes to play before UC won. Saturday was the 15th straight UC win, and they finally caught us in the all time series, 59 to 59 with several ties. Most of the games at Paul Brown have been decided in the 4th quarter. Now at Nippert, UC is really tough. They fill the place and the crowd is right on top of the action. It is as good an home field advantage as any Big Ten team has. That stadium used to be 19,000 when the Bengals played their first season there, now it is 40,000. I still like playing the game.
We will see how good UC does in the Big 12, but I think they can have as much financial support as any of those programs. There is a lot of money and business in Cincy, more so than any of those Big 12 cities. I actually think the 4 teams coming in will be upper level Big 12 programs. Because of the 40,000 seat stadium, UC cannot really afford to pay the huge payouts that the top power conference schools pay, so the current contract probably works well as they are getting 75% of the games in Cincy without having to pay for a buy game, and it is still a game that fans fill Nippert for, plus we had 42,000 at Paul Brown a few years ago, ands both teams are better now than they were then. The last time we played in Paul Brown the game was played in a two day all day rain from a hurricane and that killed the crowd.
