I'm sure CBC reads this board and is awaiting permission to suck. LOL. Have you met the man?

Sure can be. As it stands today, they are approaching 2 decades of not hiring that person.

RE: A Image of where we've been?
Alabama had a run of bad hires as well, even though through it all they had all the resources you could ask for and access to top tier talent.

How long did it take to right the ship once they made the right hire?

If UT puts the right HC in place and he starts to win, how long do you think it will take for those win-hungry, tired-of-sucking-it fans to go nuts, pack the place with screaming fanatics, and to start to sell tickets and donate like crazy?

The big difference with UAB in that discussion is that we never had the resources or the facilities to build on any momentum we found. As a result (and because of the efforts of the BoT at that time) it was nearly impossible to hire a winning coach.

At least until Bill Clark not only took the job, he made the choice to stay and fight to build it to meet the potential he saw in his mind's eye. There is virtually no phase of UAB's football program where he did not make the decision as to how it would be constructed, coached, run, upgraded, and improved. This is HIS program in a way that is almost unheard of at any other university.

This. And this is what the speculators do not grasp.

He is also what I consider a great football coach. Great football coaches have a need to compete and to be the best. That’s why he will eventually leave when he is offered a job at a program he thinks he can get to the playoffs.

Right. Which might be in 2021 or in 2031. He can be selective. I never said otherwise. In fact, he's GONNA leave. Just not for any p5 job and it isn't a situation like any other coach. There is NO comparable situation to what Bill is and has at UAB, whatever label.

Sure can be. As it stands today, they are approaching 2 decades of not hiring that person.

Clemson had a pretty long spell of mediocrity after the Danny Ford era with 25 years separating their 1981 and 2016 Nat'l titles. Between 1988 and 2016, Clemson won one ACC football title. Lot of 8-4, 7-5 seasons with some 5-6's that gets the coach fired.

Even the school down the road will eventually see another down time, relatively speaking of course. Nobody stays on top forever.

I don’t think many people considered Clemson an elite program in the 90’s
