The Delta variant doesn't play. We went from about 10,000 new cases a day 4 weeks ago to almost 150,000 new cases just yesterday. It's estimated that each person infected spreads it to 5 to 9 others. The alpha variant had an R0 of 2.5.

Here's an updated chart on the Shelby County numbers. Here, that huge spike is the Delta variant.

That's about what you see for the United States as a whole. To date, the rate of increase is the highest in the pandemic.

Sure. Why stop there? No vaccines or immunizations for anything if you choose not to. K-12 is no longer required by law. No more seatbelts. Texting and driving is OK if you want to. Drugs, you're good to go. Everybody just do whatever they want. Victim-less crimes? Sure, why not. You're not hurting anyone.
