TBPH, when I look at this pic all I see is a very beautiful region of our country. But app still extremely bitter about hud pointing out (rightfully so) how much of a journey it is to get to Boone, esp from a non-hub airport city like LFT.

ETA: at least now we have direct flights from LFT to CLT. Which I think is as close to Boone as you can get. We are planning on making that trip next year so I guess we will find out soon enough

I lived right outside of Lafayette for 11 years (Broussard 1995-2006) and flew home at least 2 times a year, never really had any problems and always flew from LFT (Lafayette LA) to ATL (Atlanta GA) to CRW (Charleston WV). And ever so often had a stop in MEI (Meridian MS).

I remember coming home in July 1996, the year the summer olympics were in Atlanta. In what usually took 26 mins to properly descend to the ground in 1996 we done it in 6 min and 12 seconds. Not only that it was the longest airplane queue Ive ever been in. We were 59th from takeoff in Atlanta, took 2hrs 38 mins.

clt says that is why CLT is growing

Ask ULL, USM and many others on the list. There is tremendous potential especially for a CUSA program to have a solid profitable, ranked and a program that brings in donor contributions. What other college sports has that potential? None or maybe college hockey up north

LSU had total baseball attendance of 450k which would equal 4.5 sold out football games.

It is true that only 10% of college baseball turn a profit by that is more than all the other college sports (including soccer) that will never turn a profit.

Soccer didn’t even make the top 15 revenue college sports.

I'd also be interested in seeing this with data based on just those two sports. I love to watch several sports, but those two sports are the only ones that really move the needle for the vast majority of programs.

I lived in Alaska for a decade. All these other flight times and small runways are cute. Try dropping over a mountain onto a runway that is actually a jetty out on the ocean that looks like an aircraft carrier, through a 400 foot ceiling of fog and then being off course because the wind is blowing 80 knots and having to go around and do it again, sometimes more than once, in a 727. This is why I don't care to fly anymore unless I have to. And this is common in SE Alaska.

And that is the main reason why their are no Alaska schools in C-USA...inadequate airports.

Only one of the two I know has been ranked in any sport and it isn't the FAU one. FIU has been ranked in men's soccer many times though. FAU is the only men's soccer program in CUSA to never go to the NCAA Tournament.

South Carolina 22 -- College Cup Runner Up 1993
Coastal Carolina 16 -- Elite 8 2003, 2012, 2013, 2017
Charlotte 14 -- College Cup Runner Up 2011
ODU 14 -- Sweet 16 2006, 2007
WVU 14 -- Elite 8 1981
Kentucky 11 -- Elite 8 2018
FIU 10 -- Sweet 16 2003
UAB 9 -- Elite 8 1999

Well, Broussard/Youngsville are not so much right outside LFT anymore but actually just part of it. The growth of that area in the last 12 years or so has been really something. It’s actually slacked off now as all the growth and traffic etc associated with it caused some backlash. Lately the growth has been in Carencro, and also Maurice which is becoming youngsville pt 2. Oh and a lot of growth in Scott too.

ETA: dare I ask if you enjoyed your time there? I actually lived in Broussard 2003-2010, it was a pain with all the construction, lack of roads, etc. I’ve been in LFT (Saint Streets area) since 2010 and love it. Wouldn’t live anywhere else.

The big construction and growth was just starting when we moved back in 2006. Pinhook was just starting to be built up where Sonic and the former Adrian's was, I think its all storage units now. I could tell then it was going to be a boom in that area.

I loved my time in South Louisiana, still have some good people I still talk to to this day from there. The two most annoying things was running from the hurricanes and the damn Love Bugs.

Although we didn't really have any damages from hurricanes while living there. Even Katrina went one way and Rita went the other in 2005 and miseed us. The biggest distruction we had came from Tropical Storm Allison that hit Houston and not even Louisiana in 2001. We had a weather pattern stop over us for hours and it rained hard for 10 hours straight and flooded us out.
