Strength & Conditioning
Such a key aspect of a program. Any updates to share for your team? Do you feel this is an area of strength for your program? I feel like this is becoming a bright spot for USM. I saw a tweet were USM had 32 players that could power clean 275 lb. or more in the Spring and now 52 can. Lots of short videos showing players encouraging each other on big lifts.

My guess is every single team in the country has had great off season workouts. Team chemistry off the charts! QB and WR timing developing. LOTS OF RECORDS in the weight room!

Just read any article from any paper that covers a D1 team.

I hope so because the last time a USM fan made a post about S&C preseason...

they had a player to get injured on 9 concessive plays.05-stirthepot

But that was a mean Western team that put a beatdown on many players. 02-13-banana

All joking aside that is a huge part of the sport but in the end lady luck has more to do with injuries. As long as a defensive player can lift 230 and really 215 for most players. They should get the job done... not too many 275 QB,WR, RB . Strength helps but good technique is what I want from players and it pays off more often...offense and defense

At UAB we're just hoping our skinny legged kids can get off the bus without hurting themselves.

TS73 says we are talking about strength and conditioning, not women from Boone who have relocated to CLT. 05-stirthepot

The last time UAB had guys maxing out, we had players getting hurt constantly and Garrick McGee was still coach. Think the S&C coach last name was Chandler.

I’d argue Henley, at UAB now, is as good as they come. Bama players come to Birmingham and train with him for NFL combine preparation.

UAB players will be wearing a new health tech vest in practice and games this fall. It's designed to give real time updates on a variety of body metrics so coaches can measure each player's maximum output vs their current stamina.

That's some good use of technology. I think Southern Miss used something similar in the spring that measured the player's speed on each play.

We had that one year, too. Some ******* breaking boards over his body for motivation. Everyone came out of the locker room looking like Mr Universe. But they had no flexibility, no speed, and no agility. Total disaster. Lots of injuries. Was about 2016 I think. Maybe after. He didn't last long.
