SBC Top 25
Saw a countdown on Twitter of the top 50 AAC players. I'm curious if anyone has opinions of the top SBC players. I figured 25 would be an easier countdown than 50. Thoughts?

RE: SBC Top 25
I'd take these guys over anybody in their respective positions
outside WR- Sam Pinckney (going to NFL)
slot WR- Cornelius McCoy (Penny Hart 2.0)
OL- Shamarious Gilmore (going to NFL)
TE- Roger Carter, Aubrey Payne (all conference TEs who can catch anything and block well)
RB- Destin Coates (all-around RB with power+speed)
DL- Dontae Wilson, Hardick Willis (relentless double-headed monsters)
SS- Antavious Lane (his nickname is "hitstick" Bob Sander type safety)
K- Noel Ruiz (best kicker in conference, coming back for the super senior year)

Pinckney is the best receiver I saw in the Sun Belt all year last year, so no argument there.
Lane could be the best safety in the league this year. Better than Shaun Jolly? We'll see..
TBH, I think Coates is overrated, and that's JMHO and not pot-stirring. He gets the accolades because people don't look past total yards, but GS has 3 backs with a not-insignificant number of carries with better per-yard rush average, and that's with State having a better offensive coaching staff.

That's fair. to be honestly with you, Coates did benefit from having a strong cast of OL front of him. He is a workhorse however, that he does deserve credit for.

RE: SBC Top 25
For Troy, I'd at the very least include:
Carlton Marshall (ILB)
Will Choloh (DT)
Reggie Todd (WR)
Kimani Vidal (RB)
B.J. Smith (RB)
Some other guys who could be in the Top 50 at the end of the season:
Luke Magliozzi (P)
Brooks Buce (K)
Richard Jibunor (Edge)
Javon Solomon (Edge)
Maybe a receiver or two find their way into the Top 50. I imagine one or two offensive linemen will get there as three of them are on some all conference lists.

Well, you must have missed every Arkansas State game last year and not seen SBC Offensive Player of the Year Jonathan Adams

We don't have anybody this year. We'll probably lose every game. No need to even think about preparing for us.....nothing to see here.

Some of us know. Last year was not a talent problem, and wasn't so much a culture problem either as it was a rough situation for the Anderson family. This should be a quick turnaround.

I would take the following app players over anyone in the SBC:
1) cam peoples (rb)
2) Corey Sutton (wr)
3) Demetrius Taylor (DE)
4) Shaun jolly (db)
5) baer hunter (ol)
I would take the following app players over most at their position in the SBC:
1) Cooper Hodges (ol)
2) Thomas hennigan (wr)
3) D’Marco Jackson (LB)

This list looks about right. I would slide Jackson up to the first group.

I don't think Coates is the best RB we have had in even the last 4 years. We shall see. Any GSU RB is benefitting from IMHO one of the top OLs in the nation.

All due respect to the others at his position, but every other receiver is playing for second place behind South Alabama's Jalen Tolbert. Also, safety Keith Gallmon was one of the highest rated in the nation by PFF.
