IDK, our research and the way we are continue to increase it has nudged us past mediocre. I would say we still have a quite a way to go, but the trajectory is a good one.

Only way to settle this is to add Marshall. Marshall probably would've had 35,000 for App in 2020 if full capacity was allowed; they would likely have the highest attendance in the Sun Belt if they joined.

I would say the Marshall fans here have brought an even mix of respect and flame throwing with them. That’s how you build a healthy rivalry between fan bases. I’m all for their inclusion. It would feel like righting a historic wrong…reuniting two long lost frenemies.

In this league each program needs multiple rivals. We can’t subsist on just one rival each. App’s only real divisional rival is Georgia Southern. I feel like there’s a little something there with stAte and UL but they’re cross divisional so it’s loses a little fire. Marshall would give us clear cut 1a and 1b rivals in our division with a budding #3 rivalry with Coastal. Probably gives GS a solid #3 behind App and GagState.

The western side just needs to decide who they want to be frenemies with and we get so much better collectively.


Edit: I believe adding Marshall keeps App happy enough to not look elsewhere at other leagues.

I’m not sure how many we have to be honest. I do know that we are the ONLY team in CUSA/Sun Belt to average over 20k in football and over 5k in basketball every single season since realignment. Our lowest football attendance before COVID, was 2019 where we had under 24k. A lot of our fans were on strike demanding a coaching change that finally happened.
