RE: The Athletic: Amid Big 12 instability WVU could look to the ACC fo for a landing spot
I understand all of the issues that are being mentioned here, but going to 15 could be a benefit to the ACC for scheduling.

The ACC was the first to actually propose a chance in the rules to have a CCG and at the time SlySwo said that the ACC was not considering pods, but I do not think anyone believed that. The ACC has always wanted to find a way to get the two best teams in the CCG, but the Big 10 blocked that as a direct shot to the ACC. Many people wrongly assumed the last minute change in the CCG rules screwed the Big 12, but it actually helped the Big 12 and gave the Big 12 the most options of any conference.

The Big 10 was the one that pushed the change to where you had to play a full conference round robin to have the two highest ranked teams play in the CCG and of course that is impossible for the Big 10, ACC, and SEC (and PAC 12 unless they want to play 11 conference games). For the Big 12 they could play 9 conference games and have the two highest rated teams in the CCG. The Big 10 made it where any conference not playing a full conference round robin had to have two divisions "as equal in number as possible" and only the division winners could be in the CCG so that made it not possible to have pods or for the ACC to have divisions that kept rivalries and that made sense in terms of travel while having the two top ranked teams in the CCG.

I believe that rule will soon be changes and pods will be allowed and the conferences can figure out who to put in the CCG. So if the ACC went to 15 schools (assuming one is not ND) then it makes it much easier to deal with the 5 games that ND plays because then ND simply plays each 5 team pod home and home and then rotated to the next one. It would move the ACC to 9 conference games though since you would play 4 others in your pod and then another pod all 5.

It of course does not need to be WVU to make that happen, but another team to get to 15 if ND just forever says no does help the ACC with the ND scheduling if pods are allowed and I think it helps with some other issues like teams playing more often and rivalries and then the ACC could have the top ranked teams in the CCG.

Of course to really make that happen and make it worth it then "money" needs to appear.
