That's a good post. And very true. It's been pretty much "all good" for UAB fans since they returned to football in 2017. They established a new football program in 2017, immediately won two CUSA championships and another West Division title, opened up a brand new practice facility, now they are opening a new stadium, etc.... They haven't really had anything negative happen yet. For UAB fans, the 4-year experience been akin to a kid living in Disney World. It will be very interesting to see how UAB can weather a few storms, if they ever have any.
If you think we've never weathered a storm, this is your tacit admission that you don't know the first damn thing about UAB football.

You lost a house to a tidal surge. You built your next house on stilts. We're just wondering if those stilts are reinforced concrete or bamboo. You took personally what is a valid concern. Don't worry Band Dad had your back. I'm satisfied you have a strong foundation and not a crappy patch job.
As a UAB fan, I agree with what is being said. UABs fan base hasnt grown exponentially, since the Return. Sure, its much better than it was but if UAB wants to really grow the fan base they are not going to do it by simply winning CUSA. The new stadium will help greatly, but sustained success plus wins that have national significance is what we need. Asking what happens when either Bill Clark leaves or UAB starts losing is a very valid question.
Some Blazer fans don't think that is necessary to move up to a better conference.

There used to be a faction that wanted to drop football and move down to a less competitive conference that we could dominate in basketball.

USM can jumpstart its athletic department again via local rivalries with South Alabama and Troy.
Marshall is weirdly similar culturally and institutionally with App, Coastal, and Southern. Even your fans give of similar vibes for good or worse.
I can see UAB developing "Battle of I-20" thing with GSU. easy 2hrs drive. only separated by the GA/AL border. Atlanta/Birmingham would be good travels and plenty to do during a day trip.
No USM fans have any interest in games against USA or Troy in football.

That matters little. We have zero history with them and they're both relatively new to the FBS world. USM fans don't care about either.

The UAB fans I know have zero interest in dropping to the Belt. None. They're having a good run in football and have an ESPN contract instead of our garbage pile. Good for them.
You want to see some interest, talk to us about the AAC.

How attractive is the AAC if UCF, Cincinnati and Memphis leave? But are we really talking about joining the SB or are we talking about creating a new East Coast conference with CUSA, SB and AAC schools?

I think UAB will be the 1st call the AAC makes if they lose teams so I think there's a 0% chance they end up in the Sun Belt, unless things get really weird.
UAB would be a good addition, but I could understand rather winning CUSA conference titles over finishing 4th or 5th in the SBC east every year.

You forgot Houston and probably Navy as well. Not much more attractive than CUSA.

This is delusional.
It's actually spot-on. A commuter school would want to be in a league with other commuter schools. That was kind of the formula for the old Metro Conference. School "types" typically gravitate towards each other. CUSA is more of a Frankenstein. At least the SBC is consistent sans Georgia State. They probably belong in CUSA where Marshall, USM and LA Tech are better fits for the Sunbelt.

You both like to mark your territory over here, as if no one else should be on the CUSA board. It's very strange.
