I would be in favor of a "best of the rest" type conference, but a move to the Sun Belt would be bad. Football is good, but what about the other sports? The basketball is bad, and at Marshall, Men's soccer is a thing, and would Marshall soccer still have a place in CUSA?

Basketball has averaged pretty similar RPI over the last 6 seasons. Around 16th. CUSA has a better top, but without Marshall and UAB that drops CUSA to a position that likely isn't above the SBC.

Seriously? Maybe you just don't know that LA Tech, WKU & ODU were the top 3 teams in CUSA last REGULAR season, and UNT won the CUSA Tournament. Not much mention of UAB or Marshall last year in mens basketball.

Got to give it to ya, Appy State. You did get Brent Stockstill in the absolute worst game he ever played as a Blue Raider. Ya won the Bowl and whipped our a**. But guess what? it doesn't matter cause the CUSA Champ played somebody else that year. We were only Eastern Division Champs (the also rans) playing the big old SB Champs. You were fortunate not to have to play the UAB Blazers.. Still don't give a Flip who you think should be designated "Flagship" of either conference.

LOL. Remind us how your mighty ‘champs’ did against the SBC last year? Oh yeah.

24-20 UL Wins

And oh yeah

mid-level SBC team embarrasses ltu 38-3

Bolded part is true. We were embarrassed alright.

Regardless, LA Tech has won more CUSA football games (record is 38-18) than any CUSA team since CUSA 3.0 was formed in 2014 (that's when WKU joined). LA Tech has also won more bowl games (6) than any CUSA team since 2014.

Oh...and there's also 2 azzz whoopings that were dished out for ULL during that same period as well.

The point is, if anyone in CUSA should be embarrassed about their football results, it's not Louisiana Tech. LOL! 03-lmfao

I personally like LT and would have them on my list of teams that I wouldn’t mind being in the same conference as GS. A lot of their fans have an unreasonable, yet entertaining god complex about their school athletics. It’s a different flavor of ULLs mentality. 3 would be too many Louisiana schools though.

Does anyone have the CUSA vs Sunbelt win/loss record since 2014? I’d wager that most of the Sunbelt losses come from those western schools.

Not much mention of UAB? I don't think that's quite right. UAB had the most conference wins and wound up with one of the 4 byes.

You S. Miss fans are funny as hell but you are the last to know. You say know what? Your time has passed and not only are you not going to make a conference better. You are a major problem with CUSA.

You fans just cant see that because you are still in 1990. WAKE THE HELL UP!

edit; I know its not all S. Miss fans but there's a lot like the above

Thank you. I didn’t want to say it. I’ve spent a lot of time in MS and I love the people but most of the fans on here are delusional on their relevance in the last 25 years.

Biggest football delusion is in Oxfart and Stark-as-hayell-ville....Must agree USM hasn't done sh!t lately, but who in C-USA has?....Frequent corching changes ala USM (with bad corching choices as well) can destroy a program (ask FSU and ECU), so we are hoping (yes, hoping) Corch Hall can at least stay around long enough to make us relevant again.

..and I wouldn't say we are any more delusional than any other pitiful program in C-USA....oh, by the way, we'll see you in the Rose Bowl next year! 03-lmfao04-cheers

UAB's peer institutions are in Memphis, Orlando, New Orleans, Houston, etc. I have no want to move into a conference with Troy or Boone. I don't really want to be in a conference with Ruston currently. Will absolutely play ooc games though.

The same people sayin' USM is delusional are from the likes of WKU (who has had their 3 years of "glory") and UAB, who has had a couple of decent years but talks as if they are the Univ of Alabama-Tuscaloosa, not Birmingham!03-lmfao

Has USM been worse in football than those 2 fine programs LATELY?--of course we have--but we feel we still have a lot to offer, and we'll just have to see where it all sorts out.

You will get very little argument from me about Southern Miss athletics during CUSA 3.0 In most regards, the performance of the Golden Eagle teams has been putrid (and that is being nice). Hopefully, the president at Southern Miss has now figured out that sports is important. His 3rd AD hire appears to be at least a decent fit as opposed to his first 2 which were utter failures. Will Hall has done everything right since being hired. The previous coaches that won in those categories also won on the field. The Southern Miss fanbase is hopeful, and cautiously optimistic.

I know a lot of you just come on here to fight, or to show how much smarter you are than everyone else ......but isn't there enough fightin' going on in the country so we could just come on here and be entertained? JEEZUS

Every school in C-USA has it's plusses and minuses (more minuses unfortunately), and every fan on here is biased towards their school, whether you wanna admit it or not.

Like I already stated, we shall see soon enough how it all sorts out...but NO SCHOOL on here can really mow down another C-USA school without looking at their own overgrown backyard.

Edit: I've never understood why y'all don't start a poll in the realignment board about who is the flagship and let outsiders tell you who they feel is. I think you would be surprised.

It honestly would depend on the region. But I think its safe to say that only Marshall, USM and Rice have any legit name recognition outside of their region. Within region, UAB, ODU, LaTech, WKU, UNT and even UTEP could probably all lay claim to a piece of the title. I didnt even know most of these schools even played football until we joined, and really only knew of UTEP, WKU, Marshall, USM, La Tech, UNCC, UAB and Rice. But Im a basketball first fan.

The #1 factor in the G5 of contentious winning is you have to be good at your next hire. If your coach sticks around for year 5 you made a bad hire. Not only made a bad hire but compounded it by paying him more than you can afford to buyout.

A very few exceptions but that should be the main rule. Having a good coach for 5 or 6 years that wins championships. Is not happening. Western made all the correct hires...

till it didnt and it cost Western a chance that it will take 6+ years to get back. That's if Western made the correct hire this time and again after he leaves.

That applies to everyone of us once we win

Will Hall has done everything right since being hired. The previous coaches that won in those categories also won on the field. The Southern Miss fanbase is hopeful, and cautiously optimistic.

Well yea and you need money to keep up with the coaching joneses and for that you need fans and tradition. USM has a solid fan base averaging 25K even with bad football on the field. We have the ability to weather the storm where as most G5s would never recover from 0-12. USM will be the top/if not one of the top G5 programs in the next 5-10 years.

Has USM been worse in football than those 2 fine programs LATELY?--of course we have--but we feel we still have a lot to offer, and we'll just have to see where it all sorts out.

There you go again...

Ronnie Reagan, that you? 03-lmfao

I honestly dont have a problem with USM but if someone wants to trash talk. I will talk back. If someone wants to debate on a honest level. I will do that. Like you said everything is slanted towards..."my team" by all of us.

But S.Miss has some fans that are like cockroaches only they dont run when you turn on the lights. I guess I mixed you up with one of the roaches. Nothing against those fans either...some days you just want to argue. It pumps the blood up

..and I wouldn't say we are any more delusional than any other pitiful program in C-USA....oh, by the way, we'll see you in the Rose Bowl next year! 03-lmfao04-cheers

Cry me a river....

Western 6 head coaches in last 13 seasons of FBS Football. At the G5 level making good hires is a large part of "being good"

If USM cant get it correct its just another reason to add to what is starting to be a long list of things USM is just not good at.

Overall football is the main issues.

Then I guess you had no clue Western was on a 0-26 over 3 seasons (with a 0-12 2009) then...
