Maybe the Big 12 going 0-3 against the SBC last season, and the national perception that followed, was the last straw for Texas and Oklahoma?

Considering that these talks were happening with the SEC 6 months ago (after football was over), it seems remotely plausible. I know that it's a far stretch, but you never know. Can't help but think Texas and Oklahoma don't like to be lumped in the media perception with other schools that went 0-3 against the Sun Belt.

Yeh, missing out on the CFP last year was probably the last straw.

Going to the SEC won't make getting into the CFP easier for Texas and Oklahoma. They're leaving chasing TV money.

CFP12 probably has 4 SEC teams on a normal year. 4th in the SEC is doable for UT. Plus. Money.

no. the reason the teasippers want out is because some of the schools in the conference are perceived by them and their fans as not top tier. this is what led to the demise of the old SWC. the top two programs, ut-austin and ou were not able to shake off the others because of political forces at play at the time. might be able to pull it off this time tho. looks better to teasippers to go 6-4 in the sec than against the likes of the B12. in all fairness, they will be in a conference that is mostly all state flagship schools like themselves.
