Texas Border Wall: Gov. Greg Abbott's Plan is to Bypass the Fed
Quote:Fox News’ Bill Melugin was given exclusive access to the initial construction on Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s promised barrier in Del Rio, across from the Rio Grande River.

From Melugin’s report, we learned that the intention behind the temporary fences, which we know can be easily scaled over or cut apart, and the “No Trespassing” signs, are to draw a bright line between state and federal jurisdiction.

I asked what a chain link fence is going to stop? Texas DPS tells me the idea is to cut the feds out of the equation. No trespass signs allow them to arrest on local charges. Instead of calling Border Patrol, they will take migrants to jail for violating Texas law.

When you cut out the middle men between Law and ORDER, then your ability to actually conduct both increases exponentially. According to the report on Fox News’ America’s Newsroom, DPS is looking to increase enforcement. When you no longer have to hand off illegals and migrants trying to breach the Texas border, then you can use Texas law as the barometer of enforcement.

Texas is, and has remained, a sovereign state. There is always talk about secession from the United States to once again become its own territory. Gov. Abbott’s moves seem to be a reminder and a reinforcement of this.

Brent Smith, an attorney in Kinney County wrote in a Op-Ed:

The state of Texas, as a sovereign political entity, has the inherent authority to enforce its own borders and protect its citizens. Article IV, Section 4 of the U.S. Constitution guarantees that the federal government shall protect each state of the Union against invasion. It is not voluntary. It is a constitutional mandate created to guarantee the protection of all the states in the Union. Anticipating that the federal government at some point may not follow the constitutional mandate, the framers added something else, another guarantee for the states. Under Article I, Section 10, Clause 3, the states reserved their sovereign authority to act in the protection of their citizens when threatened by “invasion or imminent harm.”

It is only logical to conclude that the authors of the U.S. Constitution included this expressed reservation of state sovereignty for times when the federal government is not able, or willing, to uphold its guarantee of protection under Article IV, Section 4. In other words, this reserved authority functions the same way as a “break the glass in case of emergency” scenario.

The glass has been broken.

New Border Wall Construction Begins near West Texas Town

Quote:EAGLE PASS, Texas — Site preparation work for one segment of Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s recently announced border wall project is visibly underway south of the city. On Thursday, work crews could be seen clearing land and surveying property near a truck route leading to the Camino Real International Bridge.

On Wednesday, migrants could be seen crossing through the area that will soon be the site of a several-mile concrete barrier and fence to impede access from the Rio Grande. The site is part of the right-of-way for Texas State Loop 480. The loop parallels the border for several miles and is notorious for migrant traffic.

A spokesperson for Abbott’s office told Breitbart Texas several border barriers and fencing projects are underway. “Since Governor Abbott announced the border wall construction strategy last month, the Department of Public Safety has been working with local landowners who consent to temporary fencing constructed on their land by Texas Military Department engineers.”

As for the project in Eagle Pass, the spokesperson elaborated: “the Texas Department of Transportation has begun clearing vegetation and constructing a concrete barrier on state land after a competitive bidding process.”

The wisdom of the Founding Fathers simply cannot be doubted. The Constitution covers all the bases: protection by federal government, emergency protection by state, then self protection with the 2nd amendment. Absolutely beautiful.

It's Texas man, it's what we do. We didn't become a nation because we were stupid. In this scenario the song, "The Eyes of Texas Are Upon You" was a self fulfilling prophesy. We'll see the illegal immigrants coming and they will be arrested. Heck, if The SOB and LegsUp "WON'T" do it then it's up to us to protect ourselves. Let those illegals come in through New Mexico afterall they have a person (Demoncraptic governor) on their side...c'mon in.

Texas Border Wall: Gov. Greg Abbott's Plan is to Bypass the Fed
**NEW**: After an incident at a Whataburger, police in La Joya, TX say they’ve learned illegal immigrants who test positive for COVID-19 are being released from federal custody to a local Catholic charity in the RGV which then places them in local hotels without notice. @FoxNews

Garland Sends Letter To Governor Abbott, Threatens Legal Action Over Migrant Executive Order

Quote:U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland wrote a letter to Republican Governor of Texas Greg Abbott on Thursday in response to Abbott’s recent executive order.

Abbott signed an executive order this week restricting the flow of migrants into Texas due to COVID-19.

According to the governor’s website, Abbott signed the executive order “restricting ground transportation of migrants who pose a risk of carrying COVID-19 into Texas communities.” It also “directed the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) to stop any vehicle upon reasonable suspicion of such violation and reroute such vehicles back to its point of origin or a port of entry. DPS also has the authority to impound a vehicle that violates the Executive Order.”

In response, Attorney General Garland wrote his own letter to Abbott, saying that the order cannot be enforced, and pressed the governor to immediately take it back.

Garland wrote that the order “would jeopardize the health and safety of noncitizens in federal government custody, federal law enforcement personnel and their families, and our communities.”

He also stated that it “directly interferes with the implementation of federal immigration law.”

“Texas has no authority to interfere with the United States’ ‘broad, un-doubted power over the subject of immigration’ by impairing the United States’ release of individuals and the ability of those individuals to comply with federal immigration law,” Garland added.

Garland concluded his letter by saying that if Abbott does not rescind the order, he was providing notice that “the United States intends to pursue all appropriate legal remedies to ensure that Texas does not interfere with the functions of the federal government.”

Abbott has been outspoken about the Biden administration’s unwillingness to combat the rise of illegal immigration and migrants crossing the Texas border into the United States.

Regarding the order, Abbott said, “The dramatic rise in unlawful border crossings has also led to a dramatic rise in COVID-19 cases among unlawful migrants who have made their way into our state, and we must do more to protect Texans from this virus and reduce the burden on our communities.”

“This Executive Order will reduce the risk of COVID-19 exposure in our communities,” he added.

Abbott previously stated that he planned to build a barrier along the border of the state with Mexico since the Biden administration has mostly disregarded the immigration crisis at the southern border.

As The Daily Wire reported last month, Abbott said that he will be garnering public donations to fund the wall.

In a podcast interview with “Ruthless,” Abbott said that he would be creating a way for anyone to give funds to the creation of the barriers, as reported by The Hill.

“I will also be providing a link that you can click on and go to for everybody in the United States or everybody in the entire world that wants to help Texas build a border wall. There will be a place on there where they can contribute to Texas building the border wall,” Abbott said.

The governor said that most people who are not from Texas or live in northern states, get information about the border from television, which tends to show many families and unaccompanied minors coming over the border. He said, however, that many of the people who are coming across the border are adults traveling alone — individuals who are not coming to the United States with good intentions.

He said that people who live in small towns near the border are being threatened and harassed every day and suggested that the Biden administration does not care about Texans being affected by the poor border security.

Abbott added that President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris have not called him to talk about the issue at the Texas border. He said they are “pretending that the Texas border does not exist.”
