Steve4840, if your post was a Tweet I'd give you a Like and retweet.

Here is a Tweet from Drew himself...

https://twitter.com/ViottoDrew/status/15...NE1KbHe0Dg

BTW, I have been inside the SAPC (got the tour) and it is a very, very impressive building. NO EMU player should feel that he is at anything less than the best facilities.

BAM!!! Another Huge win for us!!! this is a GREAT pick up. I'm telling you.....Viotto committing early helped with this one and Coach King Williams for sure was a big part. Imagine this guy with Melvin Swindle. This is a really good ball player that could play early. Awesome start to the '23 group.

RE: 2023 EMU FB Recruiting Thread
I've been critical and happy at times with recent recruits from CC and staff. I have to admit that Viotto and Malik committing for the '23 class is the best start I've seen since I started following the team 7 years ago. Looks like SAPC, bowl games and opportunity to play are major factors in coming to EMU.

Agree. Unless a team gets lucky (someway, somehow e.g., get a big name coach like that one in Mt. P) the typical process to change the perception of a football program takes much longer.

Lot of the groundwork is done during those 'junior days.' Show them the SAPC. Show them the Convo. Let them see the campus. Let them draw their impression NOT what OTHERS say, but what they see THEMSELVES.

I'm guessing this is what has happened with Viotto. He could see the program and facilities evolve over the last few years.

And as I have mentioned many times, it is not just Rynearson and the SAPC. It is new student health center. New housing coming in the next few years. Plus all of the great existing things like the student union.

C.C. is the salesman but he needs a good product to sell and the product is getting better and better. C.C. says, "I'll match our facilities, amenities, etc. against any comparable university. Period."

A P.S. One of our fmr. hoops posters would email me after two consecutive wins, "Do you think it will help our recruiting?" I'd say, "No." Recruits need to make a comprehensive assessment of everything, the coach and staff, players, etc. etc. as well as the entire university. I doubt anyone cares if the MBB team is 16 - 14 or 14 - 16. To me, they are basically the same. I don't get into the silliness of saying "well one is a winning record while the other is not."

I agree Steve. Having coached football at one of those schools you mentioned, I can tell you that these recruits see EMU in a narrow lense. What I mean by that, is they see recent bowl games, SAPC, P5 wins. I am hopeful that for the most part we are out of the doldrums of really bad football from the Ron English era as these kids dont even know who that is. I agree we could see a REALLY good '23 class and Viotto committing so early is the biggest and best thing that could have happened. He will attract others, I promise. That is a MAJOR recruit we got and most importantly we didnt lose him to CMU or WMU.

What I love about Drew. He is looking at his team, his school from on the ground.

Best thing is to avoid friends who know little. Social media which knows little. And follow your head and heart.

I'll toss out the QUESTION: Any chance Drew graduates early and enrolls early?

I don't know enough about high school summer school these days (in my day you tried to avoid it like the plague 03-lmfao )

Over 200 tackles and 11 sacks. Akron and Toledo also offered him not sure what other schools. More of a CB.

Thanks.

Thanks.

I had him in the wrong category on my spreadsheet whoops.

He is good in coverage and doesn't miss many tackles which we could definitely use.
