RE: C-USA skips out on hosting traditional Media Days
BTW, in reality we are NOT the first FBS conference to announce a virtual media days format this year!
The AAC last week announced their media days will be virtual August 3-4, but I'm sure you already knew that because media days are so important and you surely already made the snap judgement of how lame and bush league that announcement last week made the AAC look...

I heard the ODU AD had a panic attack and convinced everyone it wasn't safe to play football, I mean go to the media days.

I've attended many conference Media Days in the long ago past (the SWC just to show you how long ago it was). And yes, in the 1990's, Media Days were significant.
But in this day and age, it is really necessary to have a traditional Media Day event anymore? Conferences are spread out. The media world is changing by the day. Newspapers are dying. Much of the coverage these days is via social media, and I can't imagine many social media outlets want to spend the money to send someone to the CUSA Media Day in the DFW area.
The important thing is to get our best players some media attention. But I don't think doing interviews by Zoom or Teams (or whatever service they use) is going to hurt their stock one bit. Just make sure you organize a well-run video teleconference and it will be fine.
NBC isn't covering the British Open live - they're announcing from their East Coast studios watching the international feed. Times are changing in the sports world.
When I read stuff like this above, I suddenly realize why this conference is in the crappy shape it's in. We have too many fans in this conference that think they are smart, but JUST DON'T GET IT!
College Media Days events are all about whipping the MEDIA into shape. It's the opportunity for the conferences to say, "Hey, summer vacation is over, and football season is about to start. Get off you azz (to the media people), get excited anout covering Marshall University and do your job! Oh, and let me tell you right now why you WANT to attend every one of our games this year, etc.........." It's also a chance for MEDIA people to personally meet all the head coaches and some key players. Recruits like media day, because they want attention for their chosen school.
And yes, even though some of you lovable neanderthals don't know it, Big Media still attends most of these events. This is a huge miss for our conference. Especially since America is just now coming out of its' shell. Now is NO TIME for CUSA to climb back in a shell.
It has been several years since C-USA media day was a well attended event for media members. I've been many times and it was always an enjoyable event. My guess is very few media outlets would be there this year.

Here’s a chance for your AD to step up. Would like to see him on the horn with those who want this event. If enough ADs moved forward maybe it would shame (or expose) the others and get this reversed.
I’m already sick of the tu coverage with Big 12 media days, and I am sure it will get worse with Baylor, TCU and then the American.

Slow Night and the 7 Dorks.
Judy isn’t to blame for this. As much as I want to peg her for this, Guns is right.
Banowski = Bob Pruett
Judy = Mark Snyder
For those that don’t know, Bob was the most successful coach in MU history. He was less than honest, saw the writing on the wall, and then bolted after the 2004 season (one year shy of the minimum 10:year requirement for the NCAA HOF). He saw the writing on the wall and bolted. Same a Banowski.
Mark Snyder had zero chance to win when we joined CUSA. Same as Judy.
That being said, Judy is the absolute worst person to put forward as the face of the conference. She has the personality of a wet mop. We need a marketing strategist.

I still think ODU should be punished for not playing football last year. This conference can't go anywhere with out members cancelling football or just deciding not to play.

A strong commish accomplishes what is best for the conference. They impose their will by building trust and alliances through confidence. A strong commish isn’t told by ADs that they don’t want to attend a traditional, annual event. If the ADs don’t see any value in the event it’s because Judy hasn’t made the event valuable.

But I don't see brutal articles about the AAC like this. https://www.underdogdynasty.com/2021/7/1...5-fbs-judy
And is this info accurate? I thought CUSA teams annually got about $700k each, this article says we get $2 million each from our media deal. It also says the MAC schools get $10 million which seems incredibly high. I thought the AAC schools got around $6 or 7. Maybe the numbers I always heard about were way off, or does this guy have his facts wrong. Is he thinking conference payouts are what individual schools get?

We will, just like we did two years ago when they had a football team.

We get around $400k a year per team from our media partners.
I don't know if the writer is talking about total per team over the life of the deal or what.

This!!!! You don't see this BS in the SEC, AAC, Big 12...... because their commish are in control and the AD's follow his/her lead. Ours sits on her A$$ and collects a check.

Banowski was definitely not C-USA's best ever Commissioner though, That would be Mike Slive.

You are correct but who is it that keeps handing her those checks??? At the end of the day it is whether or not they think she is doing a good job and apparently since they keep paying her salary they like what she is doing
