Chicago State defeated Dixie 3-0 for their 4th straight win. They are now tied for 2nd in the division with NMSU and Cal Bap at 6-3. Their only loss in the month of October is a 3-2 loss to NMSU.

The second half of division play will be interesting.

NMSU with a 1-3 loss to CBU. The Aggies were swept by CBU and have now lost 2 in a row and 3 of their last 4.

CBU is playing very well right now. Saturday's GCU vs. CBU game is huge. The winner lands in the driver's seat in the West division. The loser drops back down to a logjam with NMSU, CSU, and UVU. The fact that the game is at CBU gives the Lancers the edge in my opinion.

Tuned in late (2nd set) to the UTRGV@SFA game and our star hitter Cruz is not only not playing, she appears to not be in the gym at all even though LiveStats says she started. Anyone see what happened?

SFA at home was going to be super tough even with her playing.

Update: Came down the wrong way and messed up the ankle. Hope it's not more than this game.

CBU takes first place in the West division by beating GCU 3-0 this afternoon in dominating fashion. GCU now falls into second tied in the loss column with NMSU, CSU, and UVU.

If I understand the WAC tournament correctly, only the top 4 from each division get invited. Is this correct?

On the conference website, it ways the top 3 from each division and the next 2 top teams. As of today, that would be 5 from the West. UVU beating Chicago today played their way into one of those spots.

Interesting day so far:
ACU takes down Sam Houston 3-1
Tarleton takes down SFA 3-2
CSU takes down CBU 3-2

All of them could be considered upsets. The race is tightening.

Isn’t CBU still ineligible this year? The final one I believe.

I believe the only sports where WAC transitioning teams can compete in the conference tournament is women and mens basketball. And this only applies beginning with year three.

The announcers in the GCU-UVU game said CBU is not eligible. However, I am not certain they are right. CBU played in the WBB tournament so I am not sure why they could not in WVB.
CBU is in their last year of transitioning to DI, but it seems they are being allowed to play in some tournaments. It is confusing.

It’s pretty crowded at the top heading into the last week of action. Should be interesting.

On CBU, I was able to find the announcement from the WAC and it was specifically for men’s and women’s basketball.

Good to know. Thanks. That makes it a little less crowded in the West division.

RE: WAC volleyball Fall 2021
Chicago State volleyball is in a good, but challenging position as they approach their final 2 games. They can win the West Division if they beat both GCU and New Mexico State on the road.

In their first meetings, Chicago beat GCU 3-2 and lost to the Aggies 2-3.

GCU and Chicago State have each won 6 of their last 7. The Aggies have won their last 3.

GCU and NMSU have only 1 WAC game left, while Chicago has 2.

Cal Bap can tie for first if they and CSU each win their last 2 games. Cal Bap plays Dixie and UVU. CBU lost at home to both in their first meetings.

Its a log jam.

Josh and DZ1, who are you taking--sticking with your own teams? I'll take the Aggies, but I'm not super confident.
