MyBB Men's Basketball Records - Last 10 Seasons
[Image: E6Gy2ECWQAYraJr?format=jpg&name=large]

Virginia leads the pack. North Carolina is 4th behind UVa, Duke, and Louisville. Three schools, Georgia Tech, Wake Forest, and Boston College, are below .500 overall (GaT is close, WF and BC are pathetic). If the ACC could dump two schools because of men's basketball, we know which two they should be. Wake Forest made the 2017 NCAA Tournament and last made the round of 64 in 2010. Boston College last made the NCAA's in 2009. Football's more important? Like WF and BC are much better in football.

You truly hate Boston College, don't you?

Basketball championships matter. Records do not.

UNC has 6 national titles won on the court
Duke has 5
Louisville has 3
NC State has 2
UVa and Syracuse have 1 each

Duke has 26 Southern Conference/ACC titles won on the court since 1922
UNC has 25
NC State has 17
Wake Forest has 5 (Yes, 73 out of a 100 titles have been won by a school from NC)
SC has 4
GT and UVa have 3 each
Washington and Lee has 2
Alabama, Georgia, MSU, Ole Miss, Vandy, FSU, ND, and Miami all have 1 each

Syracuse has 5 Big East titles won on the court
BC and Pitt have 2 each
Louisville has 1 with Syracuse and Pitt still in the conference, two more with them out.

Overall records just don't mean anything in college basketball just like they don't in professional sports.

Hey, look at it this way... BC gets a row all by themselves.

Record may not matter, but apparently home court advantage does...
05-stirthepot

(OK, OK, those 4 teams have also been the cream of ACC basketball most years).

Oddly enough, NC State never won all the years it was played in Thompson Gym on NC State's campus. State did win all four years it was played on Duke's campus in Durham. State won in Atlanta in 1929 and again in 1983. The only two wins that NC State has in Greensboro are in 73 and 74 when State went 58-1 over two seasons.

Traditionally the team with:

1. The best point guard,
2. The best game coach, and
3. The best team in total wins the title.

I would go so far as to assert that the number of actual upsets - where a clearly inferior squad won the title has only happened four times - 1939 with Clemson, 1976 with Virginia, and 1987 with NC State and 2021 with GT. In the three non-Covid cases you had a certain type of player step up for what had been two 6th placed and one 9th placed team. Clemson had finished in 9th place out of 23 but Banks McFadden had been on a tear for the last 10 games of the season. McFadden is Clemson's all time best athlete. At State Vinny Del Negro had emerged to dominate the last 6 games of the season where State won three in overtime. Marc Iverone and Wally Walker both of whom played in the NBA led UVa from 6th in the regular season. Of all these what Banks McFadden did is the most impressive, but like most things prior to 1953 they are largely forgotten.
