RE: Basketball Facility Updates
Some of the CBU improvements in this Fall 2022 video were completed in the last couple of years, but some are still to be constructed. For example, their soccer upgrades debuted this Fall, while one for the baseball and softball are due Spring 2024.

The 7 minute video is well worth the watch for anyone unfamiliar with California Baptist University facilities. You can also read about them below. The video embedded in the link highlights most of the $100 million in athletics facilities spending since 2017.

https://cbulancers.com/news/2022/8/21/ge...%20season.

Their recent million plus dollar gift is primarily for a basketball support arm of athletics fundraising and not tied in to most of these improvements.

RGV fans, tell me more about the land north of the baseball field. Google maps shows a lot of vacant land that seems rife for something to help the University.

All of that land that is north of the baseball stadium belongs to the university or either Academic or Athletic purposes. I will have a full video with head coach Travis Bush and AD Chasse Conque on my youtube channel later tonight. 05-mafia05-mafia03-nutkick03-nutkick03-nutkick02-13-banana02-13-bananaCOGSCOGS

Seems that land is big enough fir a footbal stadium if warranted, but I believe there are political issues between Edinburg and Brownsville that make that a little more complicated. Nice to have that land if needed. Maybe even a new bball arena, if needed.

Since when do you honestly know so much about Edinburg and Brownsville politics... The new bball arena is called Bert Ogden Arena... the county in which Brownsville is in had their chance to vote for an arena similar to Bert Ogden Arena but was shot down in a vote sir and or ma'am. Brownsville is stuck in an 80's and 90's mentality that they refuse to forward take as much as the University has already offered. I see no political complications... hence the olive branch is out there for them.

Most of what I know is from this board and what I know through the UT system. Word is Brownsville wasn't as happy with the merger. The football vote supposedly hinged on Brownsville feeling a part with the idea of a game or two in their city. I suspect, though it is a slightly educated guess at best, that having an on-campus stadium in Edinburg would not please Brownsville.

Brownsville has never been happy with anything... They are getting games and select events they should probably more focused on how improve their facilities because that Sams Stadium will probably host an FCS vs NAIA at best... maybe even a D2 if they are lucky enough.

RE: Basketball Facility Updates
We have really enjoyed our remodeled Moody facility, it is wonderful improvement. I imagine all of you with improvements or new building projects will feel very rewarded with the completion of your build-outs. ACU has redone its football practice field so two different surfaces can be used depending on the up coming game. But the other major building projects on campus are large and impressive. My favorite is the building discussed at the very top of this bulletin board in the topic about a "Major Announcement." It is not a sports facility but a first of its kind facility for all our futures. There is a short video at the bottom of the posts about the SERC building to handle the first university advanced research reactor. It opens in one week. Excitement is high.

Per one of the pics, there is a framed pic of Coach Martinez on a shelf in the barber shop. Very nice tribute.
