UL is too low. Everyone else seems fine but I feel at least one of stAte, GSU or GS will finish much higher than that.

On the right I've added what I expect the end of year FPIs will be for each team. I do expect at least three teams to be ranked in the polls during the year though, regardless of FPI.

After our season last year, I haven't expected any respect from prognosticators, and don't blame them. They probably just seen Butch as a has been since being fired from Tennessee. They probably haven't closely looked at our recruiting class or transfers. I think we will be significantly better this year, but we also have a very difficult schedule, and have some very talented conference mates, so I don't expect domination like we had with the Freeze and Malzahn years either.

I think most prognosticators believe Butch Jones is building from scratch. But the team is just one year removed from a winning season, and last year had nothing to do with talent. I think the bounce back will be quick. I've liked the Butch Jones hire from the start, as Tennessee is not an easy place to win, and he's been really successful at some other places. The Nick Saban coaching tree is surely a good thing.

Maybe so...I hope most of us will outperform those FPI predictions.

The bottom 6 teams need to drastically improve if the Belt wants to one of the top 2 G5 conferences. I think USA will take steps forward this year. We need Texas St to finally wake up and ULM to make up their mind if they want to be FBS.

I think ULM has made it pretty obvious. Hiring two former head coaches with P5 experience to lead the team. It might be a last ditch effort, but hell it's as good of effort as one could hope for.

The belt is a deeper than it was a few years ago. We are overhauling the Oline and the secondary. If everything gels, we could surprise a few teams.

I'm talking investment. ULM needs to catch up with facility upgrades. Kids now days will pick a school because of facilities. Reading the comments from our recruits makes it obvious they pick facilities. The first thing they say is how impressed they are by the locker room or the indoor practice field. We got one kid we are recruiting that said he was leaning towards Tennessee because of how nice their facilities are. ULM has by far the worst facilities in the Belt.

Louisiana ended last season at 36 FPI, not sure what would drop us 30 spots.

P5 bias will do that. All of these preseason polls assume that most P5 teams will be better than most G5 teams and it take four or five games into the season before we start getting a better picture of the new season.

ESPN's FPI has the most P5 bias of all the polls. There are several polls that are much more favorable to the G5.

Most ridiculous ranking I've seen so far during the off season. UTSA at 99, and below Texas State? LMAO! We finished 7-5 last year, losing a bowl game to a ranked Louisiana team by one touchdown without the services of our head coach, 3 other assistant coaches, and several players due to COVID.

I mean it is basically the same ranking as TXST. If you're going to play what if's the Bobcats lost a lot of games against teams like Boston College by less than 7. I feel the teams are about equal for now and will both finish in the 6ish win range.

Gotta agree with you there. UTSA is on the upswing. Won 7 games, played BYU and Louisiana close. I'll say you can repeat 7 wins, or even get 8 or 9 if some bounces go your way.

Texas State, while I enjoy having them as conference mates, has been all hype since they joined the conference. Lots of excitement for "next season" every year, and what appeared to be a good hire in Spavital, but they haven't shown any real improvement. I keep feeling like this is the year, but I've been down that road before, so I need to see it before I believe it.

They didn't even recruit any high school kids this year. How does any program build without recruiting? I've never seen a program with their money and facilities be so bad and make so many bad decisions.
