HC outplayed UConn in every aspect of the game. They will be a top 15 team this year.

Wonderful tailgating at this stadium in Hartford though the stadium is nothing to mention. Only 20 years old, it’s Eastern European drab, looks like something the Soviet’s would have built for the Bulgarian soccer team.

Can’t see UConn ever considering a move back to FCS. Too much invested here and they have those nationally relevant basketball programs.

One other FBS game to note was East Tennessee besting Vanderbilt 23-3. How rare for any FCS team to hold and FBS opponent to a FG.

I understand that facemasks will be required if you attend Saturday's game vs Lafayette.

Montana also beat #20 Washington 13-7, a rare FCS win over a ranked opponent, though UW will obviously drop out of the top 25 after that

They just had a student packed pep rally with no such restrictions.

If true, glad I’m not going.

Believe that would make us the first D1 school in the nation to do this, this fall. Other than Hawaii, who have banned fans altogether.

This is the first result on Google for "college football masks required".

I think there's others beyond this, but if we're requiring them we definitely wouldn't be first.

There are a few more schools mentioned specifically in this article as well. I don't know if there's a comprehensive list anywhere, but mostly I'm just making the point that W&M would not be special, they'd just be among one group of schools rather than a different group.

Personally, a mask requirement makes me a lot more likely to attend the game.

I think with masks, we should also hand out little head beanies with propellers on top just to show everyone else how smart we are.

Could have been shorter: "People who have built their brand on being anti-science make fun of medical professionals who express concerns about environments that are conducive to deadly virus spread."

I mean, they quote Clay Travis. lol

And Ana Cabrera. LOL. Or “people who have built their brand misrepresenting the truth”.

Like many, I no longer watch CNN - I just hadn’t realized they, and presuming their viewers, were apparently so upset with this past weekend of College Football. That was news to me. This article caught me by surprise even after the “official” AP reports posted here earlier.

In those, two states, Oregon and Louisiana, the declaration came down from the Governor, not from the enlightened leadership of those Universities.

It was posted here in unequivocal language that we are requiring masks to the game Saturday or claiming rumors of same. If this is false, you have to wonder why someone would do that here.

So far the only thing I've seen were a couple of posts from heferbovine like the one above, which are far from "unequivocal".

PS - Ana Cabrera is an anchor for the news portion of CNN. Both CNN and Fox News are actually pretty good at news, but it's really difficult to know the difference between their opinion shows and the news. The vast majority of both stations are opinion shows about the news, and are generally bad. That's where the article you linked resides. It's an opinion piece, not a news article.

Check the Lafayette game thread. Tell me if you think that isn’t unequivocal.

Ana Cabrera is about as partisan and intolerant as you can get. She was the biggest cheerleader out there for Michael Avenatti. Please don’t tell me she’s not an opinionated journalist.

I'm not really sure what you're talking about. I googled "ana cabrera bias", "ana cabrera avenatti"... no significant results. I would have expected at least some hit pieces or something if there was anything to it. It's a tangent not worth continuing to talk about.

I see the info from the link Tribal posted. Reposting here, since we've got basically 3 separate threads talking about the same thing.

https://t.co/60yIhdZSlu

and the copied text from the Digest (h/t heferbovine)

"Masks Required Outdoors at Some Events This Week - (Cortney Will)
Sponsored by: COVID-19 Response Team

Properly worn masks, over the nose and mouth, will be required at a number of large outdoor events this week, including Opening Convocation on Wednesday, the football game on Saturday and the AMP/Welcome Back concert, also on Saturday. "

Yes, that was my error. I was thinking of Anna Navarro. I believe she is stil on the CNN team. She was front and center when CNN was basically a podium for Michael Avenatti for what seemed like months. I’m not sure if she is listed as a journalist or meant to be objective. She’s neither.

It was on the Covid thread at 11Am. See below. I assume you don’t read that thread or maybe just missed it.

[/Facemasks will be required for everyone attending the football game against Lafayette on Saturday, Sept. 11, 2021.
