Brian Mann - New Athletics Director of W&M
Thought we should have a true new thread dedicated to this important change. Seems like a great hire and agree with the opinions expressed, that hopefully he works out and if so, sticks around awhile...seems like a rapid mover and shaker thus far, with youth on his side for long-term success.

As a side of silliness, this guy hopefully is "The Mann" ... an ironic name, given the last one being the first one and going out with a crash and burn... of course that had nothing to do with what happened.

RE: Brian Mann - New Athletics Director of W&M
He came off well at my first impression.

What worried me about that press conference was when President Rowe said the hire was a "hit out of the park" but then she purposefully corrected herself to say that Mann "threw a pass into the end zone for the game-winning goal" I am concerned that a lack of knowledge about individual sports and their proper terminology on the part of our university president could carry over into a general lack of interest about what is going on in the athletic department. Hopefully Mann will do such a great job that Rowe doesn't have to know anything about it except that we are winning championships.

A classy send-off by Cal and an impressive start in his initial interview.

Showed at his press conference that he may very well be the right person for the job. Impressive..and showed
a sense of humor too.

He mentioned Mike Rhoades connection from his days at Rice, now coach of VCU. We might have something with that.

That is correct ultimate terminology. Teams score goals in the end zone off caught passes. President Rowe was using terminology from the sport she excelled in.

Brian is clearly well respected and seems the perfect fit for both our needs and his goals.

Introductory press conference hit all the right notes. I'll add that President Rowe through a "knocked it out of the park" correction jab.

Interview with ESPNRichmond's Bob Black.

$7 1/2 million still needed to break ground on Phase 1 of Kaplan renovation.

Bought their Williamsburg house through Jay Colley after only Facetime from CA. In Jay, we trust!

Dartmouth has 35 sports and Cal-Berkeley has 30, so, very familiar territory for him. Makes 23 look pale.
