Also still no Baseball coach, womens tennis coach.
Awaiting update on Kaplan $$.

Remember we still need a new Executive Director for the Tribe Club to lead fundraising also! Progress on the Kaplan $$ will be positively impacted once the fundraising team can be fully hired.

Congratulations to Brian Mann! He has already done something that wasn't done all of last year -- the Tribe has already won a CAA championship this year. Congratulations to the Men's Cross Country team!

Like the young blood for this hire. Not to be ageist, but it will be good to have someone to inject new ideas of modern marketing and fan engagement.

I have no problem (or, more accurately, no real opinion) about either of the two new hires. However, I am amused that both guys are “senior” executives. If they are senior then I wonder what they would call me.

So far with Baseball and W BBall, Mann seems to be good at identifying coaching talent and recruiting decent candidates to come here.

Breaking ground in a few weeks on the Kaplan/Practice facility.

Things are looking up.

McRae seems to be working out well. There's an interesting Dave Johnson piece on the website today discussing his approach to the pitching rotation -- it has struck me as a bit funky, but I certainly can't argue with success: https://tribeathletics.com/news/2022/4/1...eball.aspx

Forgive me if I defer judgment on Dickerson Davis until she actually gets here and does something ...

I get withholding judgement on Dickerson Davis. This is her 1st go at the head of a D1 program. A lot depends on the staff she puts together. IMO, at the college level, success will be dictated 70% by recruiting, 20% X's & O's, & 10% relations/motivation ability.

I feel pretty good that she will be good at recruiting & relating to the athletes. That leaves that final 20% tbd

That 10% on relations/motivation is what cost Swanson his job. He recruited a lot of good players but a bunch of them left early (Eva Hodgson and that highly rated Florida recruit who didn't even make it to the first game that year). His problems with Caroline Stover are in that cauldron also.

In other words, maybe the percentage for relations/motivation should be a lot higher. I would say 50% recruiting, 25% X's-O's, and 25% relations/motivation. In fact, if you do the last two things really well (think Princeton men's hoops, for example, or maybe this year's St. Peter's) then you can get away with settling for less "prestigious" recruits but still win within your system.

Anthony Henderson has great visions that often do not align with reality while lacking effective execution.

If he can have a great support staff that he will listen to then Hampton maybe ok otherwise my condolences

I wish Anthony success at Hampton and hope that his support staff and individual talents are better matched and utilized than they were when he was with the Tribe.
